Nemerov quotes Dan Gifford who quotes this familiar neo-con face:
Passing a law like the assault weapons ban is symbolic — purely symbolic … In fact, the assault weapons ban will have no effect either on the crime rate or on personal security. Nonetheless, it is a good idea … Its only real justification is not to reduce crime but to desensitize the public to the regulation of weapons in preparation for their ultimate confiscation … Ultimately, a civilized society must disarm its citizenry if it is to have a modicum of domestic tranquillity of the kind enjoyed in sister democracies like Canada and Britain … Yes, Sarah Brady is doing God’s work. -- Charles Krauthammer, 1996.
No wonder Krauthammer has no difficulty getting face time on the networks.

Mike, the comment about Sarah Brady doing God's work leads me to believe that conclusion is dipped and served in sarcasm.
Plus one for Graves.
Sarcastic yes, anti, not by any stretch.
Remember reading about this at the time; really pissed me off. Especially considering the Brit crime rates were shooting up at the time he said this crap.
It sounds like a re run of "Christian" Progressive rhetoric from the Nineteen teens.
Then they claimed they were "Making the world fit for Ch--st's return" by prohibiting alcohol and tobacco, and all sorts of other things they perceived as "evil".
That's where the forefathers of today's jackbooted thugs got a start in kicking down doors.
Rather than fire them all when alcohol prohibition ended, FDR and Morganthau gave them another letter to their title in 1934. F, for Firearms.
"Christian" Progressives, "Doing G-d's work"?
Allong with the Domminicans and the Pietists, they're more like Christianity's own version of "The Satanic Verses"
I see the full text has been posted above. I did a very short search but was unable to confirm if my suspicions were correct, and it looks like I was wrong.
As always keep up the good work Mike.
