TypeAy's Florida Gun Show Report.

The Orlando Florida Gun Show was held on March 19th-20th at the Orlando Fairgrounds located off of state road 50 in downtown Orlando. Safety concerns: this is no longer considered to be a "good" section of town, and there were plenty of Florida Highway Patrol officers and Orlando Police present on site, both in the buildings, and walking around the common areas, and courtyards.

Note, admission to the Orlando show has now gone up to 9 dollars.
(I heard quite a few complaints about that while standing in the 50 person admission line.) Parking is still free.

Florida still allows face to face, private owner, un-papered gun sales, and I saw a fairly brisk trade in going on in the courtyard next to the main ticket office. The standard procedure to move a private sale long gun at a FL show is to mill around the courtyard with your weapon slung across your back. Trust me, buyers will find you quickly on un-papered long arms. Sellers may also have a sign taped to their bbl., as well. Enjoy it while it lasts, folks.

This was a large show. At least two big buildings, and several hundred tables. The Orlando show was a rather strange mix of really good deals on used firearms, and gobs of overpriced new ones. Crowds were very thick, and it was crowded, and difficult to get close to many of the larger, more well stocked, tables.

Attended a show in Oregon last week. There were signs in the parking lots stating that it was a FEDERAL LAW that there could be NO gun sales in the parking lot. When did it become a FEDERAL Law that you could not sell personal property?

Yup, enjoy it while you can....

Anon(1): Sounds like the Austin, TX debacle last year when they posted the site saying something to the effect of "per police/atf, no private sales without background check at this show"...

No legal authority, but that won't stop them from arresting your @$$.

Personally, I'd like more info and DOCUMENTATION.

The Austin mess turned into a big stink - and this should be even bigger.

This is intolerable. There is no such Fed.law - YET - and until there is they shouldn't be enforcing it...

So sorry DD, but slight error: Even if it becomes "law" they shouldn't be enforcing it, per their Oath.
