And they need to be reminded every day. Elected, not anointed.
I see that some officials in Bell, California -- the mayor was being paid $785,000 a year -- have resigned under public pressure. Good. Now they need to cancel his $680,000 a year pension.

This is no small thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption. I have studied history for years and I cannot recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible.
