The day of Russian semi-auto imports to the U.S. civilian market is done.

Kalashnikov, Russia's most iconic gun manufacturer, plans to double its sale of weapons to countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the company's CEO Alexei Krivoruchko said on Monday . . . Kalashnikov in 2014 was cut off from the North American and European military and civilian arms markets by Western sanctions imposed on Russian defense firms last summer in response to Moscow's annexation of Crimea from Ukraine. The company was in the process of a major distribution deal in the United States that would have seen around 200,000 civilian rifles imported to the U.S. annually. In the wake of sanctions, Kalashnikov has been aggressively targeting the Asia-Pacific civilian arms markets.

Interestingly enough the Molot VEPR rifles and shotguns are still coming in because they were not owned by KC, the targeted Russian firm. Copious amounts of Russian ammunition is still being imported from companies outside the EO ban.

Dang! I really wanted a Russian AK for my collection.

Never fear, they are going to be made in the USA shortly. More jobs for US workers. Plenty still around for collectors too.

This is why they formed Kalashnikov Concern USA. Rather than import them and deal with all that 922r crap they just build them here.

Knitebane set the record straight. They no longer have to import them.

I'm glad I got mine a few months before they were banned. Just as an FYI: Kalashnikov USA has absolutely nothing to do with Kalashnikov Concern.
