This story brings new meaning to the term 'epic fail'.

Meanwhile, the Chief describes the incident as 'doing what we had to do'. Which in his opinion must mean providing additional overtime pay to 100 of his officers.

Does the homeowner have grounds to sue the INDIVIDUAL members of the PD and SWAT? Not the PD and SWAT as a whole, asthe money for that would eventually turn around and come out of the taxpayers (and homeowner's) own pocket(s).

If not possible to sue, then it's time fo do some intel, gather some names and addresses, and as you yourself said, Mike, about DemonRat political offices, "time to break some windows."

Well, all the military grade pyro Uncle Sugar passed out does have a shelf life. It is like giving a kid a toy and tell them not to play with it.

Here is one of those cases where I profoundly disagree with you MikeV.
YES! For shoplifting!! And for the home invasion and for kidnapping of a child. Even set those last two aside and I holler an extremely loud YES!!!! Here's why. Rights themselves are property. Trivializing the theft of property, great or small, is in essence trivializing the snatching of rights themselves. Dangerous path it is to travel down.

Instead, every PENNY of the damage done should be assigned to the person who decided to steal and then invade property. I suggest ALL fees and fines go into a fund that the government then uses to compensate homeowners such as this. As this invading fool is adjudicated, his fees and fines plus a bit of punitive damages must reflect the damage he caused as a result of his actions. Prison sentences for crimes of this nature can match the earning ability through labor for the punitive aspect. Work hard, short stay. Refuse to work, slack, looooong stay.

I've no beef with labeling jack booted thugs as the JBTs they are, but I'm siding with LEO on this one. True it is the homeowner must be compensated, but care must be taken not to see taxpayers on the hook - at least not in the long run. Regardless, we MUST eliminate this attitude that STEALING isn't a big deal- because violation of property rights REALLY ARE among the highest of offenses - when one considers rights AS propert.....

The daily news in our country tells me that most police officers are indeed thugs. They seem to have a thug mentality and I think most are police officers because they aren't smart enough to do anything else. They like the power a badge gives them.

The cops just wanted to live out their soldier fantasies but without any of the sacrifice, hardship, and danger of being an actual soldier.

Just like that a few more people are made to distrust and hate police. The cops have brought the hatred and anger that they're now facing on themselves.

Best reason to be armed in your home. If the lady of the house had shot the invader it would all have been over without the Orpos getting to destroy a house.

To Anonymous above: The perp doesn't have the assets to pay for the damage and you can't get blood out of a turnip. Long prison term - OK, but looking to the Orc for recompense is a fool's errand.

Anony - the likelihood that a man engaged in shoplifting would have access to enough cash to rebuild a home is lacking any semblance of logic. Next, the suggestion that any 'fees or fines' - which would usually be non-collectible anyway - should go into a fund "managed by the government" is outright laughable. The government which manages to lose or misplace billions, with a B, of dollars every year, cannot create a budget and squanders the money of the taxpayer like a drunkard pissing into a river, can scarcely be trusted to 'manage' anything. Your solutions, while well meant, would do nothing to prevent further JBT attacks by wannabe ninja SpecOpsSEALRangerRecon jackasses looking to compensate for their penile inadequacies by wrecking the homes and properties of innocent citizens, nor would it do anything to help those whose property has been destroyed.
