A tale of two alternate realities. “If his (the customer) life was not in danger, if no one had a gun up to him, if no one pointed a gun at him - what gives him the right to think that it's okay to just shoot someone?”

The gun rights folks on the 'Net have been buzzing about this story which is, I'm proud to say, from the great state of Alabama: Customer Halts Armed Robbery Inside Family Dollar Store, Mobile, Ala.
Two employees of a Family Dollar store in Mobile, Ala. were unloading a truck, when a pair of armed robbers approached them.
One of the criminals forced one of the employees to the front of the store, past terrified customers, and demanded that the employee open the safe. Upon witnessing the robbery, one customer drew a gun and fired at the thief, striking him and causing his accomplice to flee.
Following the incident, another customer inside the store during the robbery spoke with reporters and thanked the armed citizen, stating, “”I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart and God bless you.” (WPMI, Mobile, Ala. 11/13/13)
But that ain't the whole story:
Suspect's family angry at Good Samaritan, police
Yep, you read that headline correctly:
The family of a suspected thief is lashing out after their son was shot during an armed robbery.
Relatives of Adric White, 18, believe the Good Samaritan who opened fire should have “just left the store.”
Oh, yeah. Of course. The story continues:
The Good Samaritan, who we are not identifying, told FOX10 News he was shopping at the Family Dollar on Stanton road when he noticed a masked gunman leading one of the employees to the front of the store.
“He had the gun to his head. He had him on his knees,” said the man. “I drew my gun on him and I said 'Hey don't move.' At that point he swung around and before he had a chance to aim the gun at me I fired. I didn’t want to shoot him.”
White was transported to USA Medical Center, where he remains in police custody.
A family member who did not want to be identified said White should have never been shot to begin with.
“If his (the customer) life was not in danger, if no one had a gun up to him, if no one pointed a gun at him - what gives him the right to think that it's okay to just shoot someone?” said the relative. “You should have just left the store and went wherever you had to go in your car or whatever.”
FOX10 had interviewed White’s parents but they later called and demanded the video not be aired.
Court records show that White was out on bond for robbing The Original Oyster House at gunpoint a little more than a month before the Family Dollar robbery.
Uh, well, if you don't want shot by an armed citizen, don't go pointing weapons at innocent people with evil intent. How about that lesson?

Maybe they should just start screaming "Das Racist!"

After all, how can the special needs kids get ahead in life if the people keep shooting them when they try to rob people? ;)

Best they understand Holder's lectures on "duty to retreat" aren't universally embraced.

And in today's America, there may be a concealed carrying citizen behind every aisle of store goods.

The inability of many blacks to accept responsibility for the bad actions of one of their own is telling.

For crying out loud, look at the seething shitty attitude he exudes in the mugshot! I reckon his daddy was not around to discipline him when he was 7 or 8. My daddy would have surely slapped that scowl off my face before I reached 18 years of age.

Perhaps if the thug had been shot in his first robbery attempt (the one for which he is out on bail)he might not have been available for the second run!

Moral of the story; If you must shoot, make sure you shoot to stop him.....permanently! For if you fail terminate him(as this Good Samaritan did)his low-life relatives will be seeking damages for the "injustice" you inflicted on their boy.

What a mixed up world!

Any guesses as to who these offended family members voted for?

I hate to ask, but what are the chances that a white family would react like this? Considering the family's comments, it's easy to see how he turned out this way.

Well...the public probably would have been better served by one (or two) to the lower brain case/upper central nervous system...

I know that there is a shortage of ammo, but why he was only shot once?

The family makes it sound like they want Justice. But in reality what they are looking for is revenge.

The good Samaritan failed in one way. Poor shot placement or poor caliber choice.

Where I live the good Samaritan is safe from scummy lawyer's. No one shot in the commission of a crime may sue the person who uses justified deadly force.

Sounds like the armed customer stopped a potential execution as well as saving his own life. Most self-defense instructors advise students to stop shooting once hostile action has stopped and immediate threat to life has ended. No grounds for a suit for "overshooting"

Adric(sp?)'s family's response is typical for most related to hard core criminals. Blame everyone but the criminal and themselves for allowing this to happen in the first place. Typical victim mentality. No disappointment that "We raised this boy better".

A tip of the hat to the customer for saving multiple lives. My regret is that honest taxpayers will be footing this human waste's housing, food, and medical costs for years to come.

But why shouldn't Obama make a comment about the shopper defending the clerk. His son was trying to augment his EBT card. He wasn't going to shoot anybody he was just waving that gun around to make a point.

POS kid and POS parent.

More straws in the wind. We're just another step closer to CIVIL WAR II.

No sympathy from me. If the family of that thug wants sympathy, they can look in the dictionary between "Shit" and "Syphilis".

That piece of human garbage was out on bail, for robbing another store... WHY!?!?!?!

Why didn't someone stop and say: "This is a violent animal, who tried to kill another human being. How about we NOT let him out on the street?"

That's like saying: "We have this rabid dog that just tore a kids arm off, here's a brilliant idea: Let's release him!"

If my (we're both white) brother robed a *&^%ing store, and gets his *&^ shot up, I'll be right along side the customer thanking the good Samaritan who shot him.

"...what gives him the right to think that it's okay to just shoot someone?" He didn't "just shoot someone..." he shot someone who had a gun to another person's head.

If I see a verbal argument, or fists are just being thrown, that's one set of dynamics, which aren't life-threatening. I will walk away in that case, call 9-1-1 and let the cops handle things.

If I see a gun, especially one up to another human being's head, the dynamics change, and I'll take action to defend another life, or my own life, or the life of my family/friends who maybe near me.

That gun can easily be turned on me, and I won't be taking ANY chances.

Either you're dropping that gun, or I'm dropping you.

In this article is reports that he was actually shot five times.

Makes me wonder what type of firearm the Good Samaritan used as well as the shot placement.

If ever there was a representative picture of a black, arrogant thug, this is it. The law abiding shooter needs more practice, because the P.O.S. is still consuming oxygen in an unfettered manner.

Any action you take, resulting in injury WILL result in your being sued by the criminal or his/her family, guaranteed.

If it were any other way the lawyers and legal system would be impoverished. Now we can't have that, why they all have luxury cars to pay off and other things.

If the shooter had been black it would be ending the same way but without the racism card manipulation.

It's encouraging to see a good Samaritan step up to the plate and take action like he did. Maybe he didn't get the job done as well as most would like to see, but he DID take action. I would like to think the rest of us would do the same. My hat's off to him for what he did. I'm not a drinker, so I guess I would buy him a box of ammo instead of a beer.

In one month it will have been 2 years ago that I got to shoot a burglar. The gut shot cost him 6 feet of intestine (makes him a "short shit"). Good friend advises to aim for the Hips & Head. A hip shot can take out the Femoral Artery as well as put him in a wheelchair. Head shot, well we know that some people have NOTHING between their ears so a head shot might do very little damage. In my shooting the police told me that I should have killed him. I got a Career Criminal who has been an armed robber & burglar for 24 years. Time for some more range practice.

Someone tell me, how does one reason with a thought process this primitive?

If Obama had two sons, why, one of them would look like Adric.

The other one would look like Trayvon.

All you need to know bout all three of them... and their common intentions for you.

One doesn't. One doesn't argue with fools in public. If one were to do so, those looking on would soon be unable to determine which of you was the original fool.

In a community, people look out for each other. In a jungle, it is MYOB if it doesn't involve you. That is why we must, we must, preserve a sense of community. Otherwise you get people just walking away from the assault, like those people did in NYC decades ago while the young woman was attacked on a street corner.

Lib policies have destroyed any chance for inner city blacks to establish any sense of community, due to destruction of the family. And this is what you get, the crimes, the criminals, and the attitudes. Nothing to do now but to protect your own community from this stuff.

PA's Stand a your Ground Law indemnities people from civil liability. I have no problem defending others as well as myself.
A citizen recently shot and killed two armed robbers in a mom and pop store robbery in Reading, PA. No charges filed. (The perps' families are whining about "justice" for their dead thugs, but getting NO traction. There IS hope.)

A relative, who wishes to remain anonymous, says the defender should have minded his own biznezz and let the perp cap the clerk.

I'm glad he doesn't want to be identified. That means he knows his opinion will not be well received.
