"Vigilantes, weary of crime gangs, seize control of towns in Mexico's Michoacan."
"Weary of criminal gangs, vigilantes arm and organize themselves."
You know, a buddy of mine once said back in the 90s that the solution to illegal immigration was to take every illegal rounded up, give 'em an unloaded MAK-90 with sling and cleaning kit, six 30-round magazines, a Chinese five-mag carrier with shoulder strap and a small backpack with MREs in it. Then, he said, "Take 'em by landing craft to Vera Cruz, hand 'em each a spam can of 7.62x39 and a cheap compass, and helpfully point out that their corrupt government in Mexico City is in that direction."

Pretty much the same sentiment that the writer Edward Abbey is credited for saying as well. A lot of truth to it.
Anybody ever notice that every problem the US declares "war" upon, gets exponentially worse?
People, if left to their own devices, will often find a useful solution. Hopefully, more Mexicans will decide to reclaim their communities. Terrorism of any kind is a scourge. Narcoterrorism may soon have run its course. Too bad the firearms we sent to Britain during WW2 are not available to help the Mexican citizenry. We have certainly sent enough to the wrong side in this conflict.
Say what you will about bad breath, it is still preferable to no breath at all.
A similar argument can be made on the subject of Vigilante Justice.
