From Chuck Baldwin: "Our Friends Are Killing Us."

"Come on, folks! Think about it: who endangered the cause of independence more: King George III or Benedict Arnold? A known enemy is far less dangerous than an enemy who pretends to be your friend." Yeah, I can think of some folks who fit that bill.

I enjoy Chuck--voted for him in 2008--but I couldn't get beyond the paragraph containing this statement, "Do-nothing pastors and Christians do far more damage to the cause of liberty than do atheists and agnostics."

It's not the do-nothing Christians that are the problem. It's the do-the-same-thing-every-election-and-expect-a-different-result Christians that are the problem. It's the Christians that vote fearfully or sans second thought for the candidate with an R behind their name that are the problem.

Perhaps Dr. James Dobson illustrates my point the best. He stated he would never cast a vote for a candidate who supported abortion. But when the chips were down and it was either pro-choice McCain or pro-choice Obama, he caved and stated voting for McCain was now "an option".

Do Christians believe God winks as they embrace the lesser evil. Do they think.

Last night my pastor stated America needs prophets. He was wrong. The American church needs prophets.

Until then Israel's prophet Isaiah will have to do:

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. (Isaiah 5:20)

“Woe to the obstinate children,” declares the Lord, “to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin;
2 who go down to Egypt without consulting me; who look for help to Pharaoh’s protection, to Egypt’s shade for refuge. 3 But Pharaoh’s protection will be to your shame, Egypt’s shade will bring you disgrace. 4 Though they have officials in Zoan and their envoys have arrived in Hanes, 5 everyone will be put to shame because of a people useless to them, who bring neither help nor advantage, but only shame and disgrace.” (Isaiah 30:1-5)
