Warden Rambo, Fish Commando

Cops aren’t commandos. We should let cops be cops and let game wardens be game wardens. They should be uniformed and armed like police and game wardens, not like soldiers. And if we cannot prevent drug cartels from operating on public lands under the very noses of our law-enforcement authorities, then perhaps it is time to rethink our approach to the issue. Turning the fish police into an ersatz SOCOM surely is not the solution.

Considering the beat they walk (out in the hills), and the threats they face (lions, bears, drug smugglers), and the ranges at which they might run into trouble (longer than a city block), I don't really have a problem with wardens having .308 rifles.

I actually have less of a problem with a game warden having a AR-10 than I do every cop in the city having an AR-15, because game wardens occasionally need to shoot wounded animals, and frankly 5.56 can't always do it humanely.

I wouldn't care if they carried old 1903 Springfields or moist nuggets either, but let's be honest, those will never be reissued.

HOWEVER!

The fact that they can own/carry/use these and the citizens can't is bullshit, and there's no excuse for it.

Have an open season and bounty on drug cartel dealers on public parks lands.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know, lots of details and ROEs to be ironed out. Why do I have to do all the heavy mental lifting? /sarc off.
