"Problems." Right. Many Americans . . .now view the federal government as "intrusive, Orwellian, incompetent, corrupt, heartless, secretive, and not to be trusted."

What people need to realize is the Constitution does NOT guarantee safety, it guarantees liberty. It is not up to our elected officials to strike a balance between the two, it is up to them to uphold the Constitution. That is their sworn oath.

I generally like Guy Benson but he's way off the mark here.

Terrorism is a symptom. Do you know what happens when you treat the symptom and ignore the disease? You get to do it all over again. And again. And again.

The disease here is that we stick our noses into everybody's business and mostly do it without a declaration of war (at least since December 1941). If we cure the disease, the symptoms will fade over time.

Will Rogers once said that if we would just mind our own business our national credibility would be restored in 15 years or so. Now it's probably more like 30 years.

I vote to cure the disease.

The west, and the world in general, has been at war with islam for 1400 years. That will continue until sharia law disappears from islam. With sharia law it can be viewed as a globalist political system. The west and the US in particular has had a global governance attitude since at least WWI with Wilson pushing the league of nations caliphate. Global collectivists are the problem.

Well looky here !!!
For once Obama told the truth.
If Americans don't trust government we are going to have problems. Yep we are, he's right.

As to Islamic terrorism, we should not involve ourselves in trying to create democracy in their Countries.

If they attack us here at home or abroad, the only answer is to make the consequences unbelievably painful, without then trying to rebuild their country.

Indy,

1400 year war with islam maybe, but the mid-east and the west have been at war since Cyrus first invaded Greek territory in 499 B.C.

The only thing new is an insane religion exacerbated by inbreeding.

"If people can't trust not only the executive branch but also don't trust Congress, and don't trust federal judges, to make sure that we're abiding by the Constitution with due process and rule of law, then we're going to have some problems here."

Yes, that's the first sensible thing Obama has said, perhaps in his entire life.

Rex, Paul & Charles have already said it, I agree with them 100% and there's nothing further that I can add to what they've said.

Obama is right, too, we're gonna have some problems. But the problems are chiefly going to be for him to endure. Mike as always is right; once the 'mandate of heaven' is lost and the legitimacy of the regime is openly questioned, the government either must abdicate to the people or begin using increasingly harsher tactics to retain control. Eventually, they will be done away with and we will get out government back.

JFK and Malcolm X both hit the nail on the head; it's the ballot or the bullet. Time for Obama to choose, quickly. But if he were to resign, Biden had better join him.
