Ya, by all means, let's violate everyone's right to be free from illegal search and seizure and detain people for bullshit infractions like jaywalking and then on some trumped up "probable cause" definition, search everyone we encounter....ya, that will make us safer....less free, but safer (at least in someone's mind).
Reminds me of the Franklin quote on trading liberty for temporal security.
In a state like AZ, where concealed carry is LEGAL without a permit, this ought to really be thought through better.
Treat everyone as if they are armed and a better marksman than you are until proven otherwise, and the quality of your interactions with them should improve.
Quote "That means that the best way to survive an encounter with an illegally armed individual is to exert complete control over everyone you stop, everyone you confront for any reason, and everyone you meet until you can confirm that they are not a threat to you."
You gotta be fucking kidding me! This is what we have come to? The answer for all cops is to be a Tyrannical Control Freak in every situation every time?
"You! Lay down and let me stand on your neck until I decide how I feel!"
Hey cops, I have a question for you. If you truly believe everyone you meet is about to kill you, and you approach everyone you meet with that mindset, wouldn't it be prudent if every one of us looks at YOU the same way? After all, you could very well kill one of us merely based on how you FEEL. The State (investigators, prosecutors and Judges) will give far more weight to YOUR story than ours. Your fellow uniformed Gang Members will support you, even perjure themselves to protect you. Only your side of the story will be told when our bodies cool. Now, give that, shouldn't we have the same posture and combat mindset when you approach us?

Guess what? Many of us already do.
Assume that I am ALWAYS armed and it is not just for protection from street thugs.
Cops with this mindset will regret it some day. Pricks.
