Logistics: Army Awards New M4/M4A1 Contract to FN

FN Manufacturing has outbid Remington Arms Company and Colt Defense LLC., to win a contract worth just under $77 million to make M4A1s for the U.S. Army, according to an industry source. The award notice was posted on Federal Business Opportunities on Feb. 22 with an initial value of $9,370,615.

That is money going to pro-gun South Carolina (where FN makes guns in the US) instead of anti-gun NY and CT. Thanks, Uncle Sam, you awarded that contract where I would have!

Seems like a small potatoes contract for all the wars they have planned, including the one here in CONUS. And,,,maybe, that played a role in
Remington and Colt not winning the bid. Get production out of harms way. Just a thought.

Looks like they maybe don't want companies in their supply lines that might be compromised by patriotism rather than money..
Possibilities exist.

So, will Remington and Colt more aggressively target the non-military market since they now have excess production capacity?

Or will they take advantage of the hiatus and shift their production equipment to right-to-work states that want their products in the hands of their citizens and want their production to be local?

The more scattered the manufactories are the farther the guns have to be trucked ... providing a range of oppourtunities!

The US ain't full of anti-gun truckies.
