It seems that the (illegally) armed citizenry of Mexico have had enough.

Wasn't it nice of the corrupt police official to involuntarily arm this Mexican militiaman?
Thousands of armed vigilantes takeover Mexican town, arrest police and shoot at tourists after 'commander' is killed and dumped in the street.
Thousands of armed vigilantes have taken over a town in Mexico and arrested police officers after their 'commander' was killed and dumped in the street.
The self described 'community police' and arrested 12 officers and the town's former director of public security, who they accuse of taking part in the killing of Guadalupe Quinones Carbajal, 28, on behalf of a local organised crime group.
The 1,500-strong force has also set up improvised checkpoints on the major road running through Tierra Colorado, which connects the capital Mexico City to Acapulco, a coastal city popular with tourists less than 40 miles away. . .
The arrested former security official and police officers have been handed over to state prosecutors, who agreed to investigate their alleged links to organised crime.
Many of the vigilantes are carrying high-powered assault rifles, which may have been seized from the former security director's car.
Using what they have, which is better than nothing. Mexican self-defense militiamen with .22 LR caliber "assault rifles."

Good for these brave and fed-up people, fighting back against crime, violence, tyranny and a corrupt government. This is the natural cycle of things.

This will head north just as so many Mexicans have.
People all over the world have literally had it up to here with corrupt government. Anyone in the USA who thinks it can't happen here only fools themselves.

I suspect Chicago will be first.

Exactly what needs to happen here. Hats off to these Mexicans!

Geeezz, it would appear that someone south of the border read about The Battle of Athens Tennessee. Maybe such actions will come back north again. Pleasant thought that!

the cartels with their dogs the police tried obviously to stop a popular insurgency by killing the community leader who convinced the average townspeople to start defending themselves. the people have spoken, with or without any single individual they have had enough of being sheep led to the slaughter disarmed by the leftist totalitarian gun laws. now they will fight anyone who attacks their town and add any firearms taken from the bad guys to their arsenal.
when the government colapses in its abiltiy to carry out the basics you will always see vigilantes rise up and do it. its natural just and right.

couple other points, when the people have had enough no unjust law will be followed, all the strict gun control laws are being completely ignored by the people of this area, and the army and police know enough to try and enforce those foolish laws on them.
and those who have noodled through how these things play out recognize another point, the gov. can buy all the arms they want. when it comes to it they will get taken, by a people seeking justice and they will get re-purposed.

all it takes is a few ambushes before most gov. officials start willingly handing over arms on the down low. then it just cascades. then before you know it as in this story its a 1,500 man strong force rapidly becoming well armed and formidable.

and these are peasants. if the wannabee lords of our nation force the issue americans are much better prepared to push back than these poor sods who have finally gotten fed up with fear intimidation death and loss of freedom

Looking forward to this happening here ! Chicago is a nice bet, but the sheep there are either afraid to bit the hand that feeds them or they're too busy killing each other. A vigilante force of American Citizens decending en masse on DC fully armed is what is needed.

Shooting at tourists?

Hmmmm... I don't know. If these folks want peace and justice, great. But shooting at the tourists doesn't seem like a good start for that.

I guess it depends on who the "tourists" were, of course.

the "assault rifle" may have been a correct use of the term.
The State Dept has been authorizing excessive numbers of select fire weapons sales (Hillary or her two highest deputies were only authorized signatories per ITAR)(one small village was authorized enough full autos at one sale that each officer in the village could have three of his own) so intermediate cartridge select fire weapons (AKA assault rifle) would likely be in the police thug's arsenal.

Well now, it looks like the Mexican people have more Balls than the Americans.

What’s the old song Mike that goes something like this “Coming To America”

I hope everyone takes this story and makes it viral.

Jhn1,
This isn't YouTube, we really don't care if you think you're an internet Encyclopaedia.
Most of us here have actually shot those 'select fire thingys'! OK?
When are you vocabulary nazis gonna give it a rest?

Since the dawn of civilization there has been speciaization of labor. If one guy in the village is really good at thatching roofs you might trade him a few spare chickens in trade for fixing yours up instead of trying to do it yourself. In a similar vein we pay plumbers today to fix leaky toilets. But if the specialist you pay has made several passes at fixing the roof or toilet or whatever and the problem still exists it's time to get some tools and supplies and do it yourself.

In a similar vein, we pay police, attorneys, judges, and prison guards to operate what we call "the criminal justice system". But after years of watching them mess things up, we are growing close to the point where we might take a pass at it ourselves like the Mexicans in the article.

I can't do my own open heart surgery but I'm pretty sure if push came to shove that my neighbors and I could police our own neighborhood.

I read once that "vigilante justice" is somewhat like bad breath in that it's not pleasant but preferable to no breath at all.
