keep in mind.... those of us who have Concealed Carry license are not background checked when we buy, we pay our money and walk away with the gun. So the actual number of individual buyers is much much greater than 3 of background checks.
"those of us who have Concealed Carry license are not background checked when we buy"
Depends on the state. In FL you still get run through NICS but you are exempt from the waiting period and can take your purchase home immediately. Just before the November elections my wife waited over an hour for NICS to clear her purchase of a Beretta 92F. Just a few weeks later the first people through the doors at a Miami gun show waited over 4 hours for theirs.
On a side note: the increase in background checks is even more amazing given the depleted state of retail inventories. Before a background check is run the seller has to have a gun to sell. Can you imagine how many more checks there would be if the shelves were stocked?
One wonders whether the manufacturers will catch up, whether the buying frenzy will continue if they do, or whether sales will just skyrocket even further. Any chance they are talking about this in the halls of the various legislatures? After all, this is Mr. & Mrs. John Q. Public voting in real time with their scarce dollars.
