Funny the M4 carbine has EXACTLY the same down range performance as the late production M2 carbine, and is 50X more reliable under combat conditions. The M 16 was originally billed as a "replacement" for the M2 carbine, and propagandized by its backers as "the deadliest weapon in the history of warfare".
