David Codrea: "Editorial Says Govt. Would Defeat Armed Rebellion by Making Major Cities Disappear."
"Assuming the military was part of the tyranny (which it would have to be for tyranny to have any meaning), any rebelling national band of 'patriots' would be told something like, 'you either lay down your arms or the entire city of Dallas, Texas will disappear. You have one hour. If you continue, the next city to disappear will be Atlanta, Georgia.'” -- Collectivist theorist Greg Littell.
Using Bill Clinton’s rules of engagement, we could even include enemy propagandists. Hey, it’s not my scenario, it’s Littell’s. His hypothetical tyrants are vaporizing innocent human beings and leveling cities. They’re the monsters acting as domestic enemies, outside of the restraints (and the protections) of the Constitution, criminally depriving Americans of life, liberty and property. Hell yes I’d shoot an evil mandarin or a thug minion doing that, and any politician, bureaucrat, citizen, solider or police officer worth his salt would be joining me.

He seems to forget that soldiers, agents, and bureaucrats are not simply conjured out of thin air by the politicians in DC, but are in fact recruited from the states in which these vaporized cities would be located. These people would likely not take kindly to seeing their friends, neighbors, and family go up in flames.
That kind of crazy, cutting off your nose to spite your face behavior would quickly end with the hypothetical tyrants shot and replaced, or at least quietly carted off to the asylum.
Trust a California liberal to assume everyone else thinks on the same level as an upset toddler...
Well, that certainly was a surprise- I clicked on the link and started to read Mr. Littell's opinion piece only to realize it was published in my hometown newspaper and I had read it before. I didn't even consider that it might be SSI worthy, I guess, because there is so much nonsense published in this paper that I read it with a grain of salt. I've told my wife she can cancel it any time, but she enjoys it, so I'm stuck.
It's gotten particularly bad since the new editor was hired a few years ago. Every issue has become a window into life in liberal utopia; the fight to legalize marijuana, a story about a local winery or spiritual center, AP stories about California going green. I've actually seen letters requesting that the paper not publish stories about the arrest of the latest crankster or details of a shooting on the front page. Apparently, many locals just don't want to read stories dealing with any unpleasantness. After all, that's what they moved away from, and they came here to get away from the bad stuff (which happened to tag along with them).
In 2011, The Union hired two new reporters. One "most recently worked as a field producer and researcher for documentary filmmaker Michael Moore". The other was a "foreign correspondent for the Huffington Post". I was so impressed by their creds that I saved the story and stuck it on the fridge for future reference.
California is beyond a lost cause.
This doesn't make sense to me - if the military is part of a theoretical rebellion, who would make the cities disappear? Only the military has that power (assuming all of it rebelled). And even if the government could make it happen, I doubt they would - they would be killing their own supporters and their best chance to win.
But then I'm not surprised to see liberals making incoherent arguments and threats as they flail around trying to support and unsupportable position...
1. Look at the ugly blue stains on every map of election results. Nuking cities would cover a lot of ground toward setting things right more quickly than any other solution imaginable.
2. The collectivists infesting government are post turtles. They didn't climb the posts themselves. Voters elevated them there. Every time a democrat enters a voting booth, he does to me worse than what a mugger could do in a darkened back alley. I am allowed to defend myself from the mugger, but the democrat voter commits his crimes against me and this country under the color of law.
Wanna nuke the big cities? Go right ahead! Big cities are typically full of liberals. What a moron...
He's right about one thing - we should be educating ourselves and our children because the liberal-controlled school systems sure don't offer much education lately.

interesting - considering most patriots aren't located within major cities..Maybe it will just be an excuse for the totalitarians to decrease the welfare rolls..
'you either lay down your arms or the entire city of Dallas, Texas will disappear. You have one hour. If you continue, the next city to disappear will be Atlanta, Georgia.' Is there supposed to be a down side to that potential threat? How about taking out ALL major cities that are DemRat controlled, or are sanctuary cities? Works for me...
The Party of Peace!
3rd grade read at best. That author needs to adjust his IQ a point or two above room temp before pinning anything again.
B-4, Assistance from a distance
Cool. I'm going to call this particular bluff. All the socialists I know hang out in the big cities. The bigger, the better.
Hell, they'd be doing us a favor.
Not to mention the radiation cloud which would sweep across the windward sides of the destroyed cities and the ongoing deaths and effects upon non-combatants.
Besides which isn't any issurection centred in Washington DC ... their move!

They would be doing all of us a big favor. I see nothing redeemable in any big or small city in America. Behind enemy lines Ct.
So 'they' nuk a major city full of Libs - Where would we send the THANK YOU VERY MUCH card?
Well I guess that is one way to get the population down to where the nut cases want it. Amazing how they look upon people as parasites and never see the main one in the mirror.
Oh well I have no one in the cities anyway ....fire away "dip shit", you first.
These people are /##///'=^:"! Insane. Anyone nuking a city will have an extra special place in hell waiting for them.
Like so many true believer collectivists, this guy would see other people - including the employees of the government, many of who live in cities - sacrificed for HIS cause. At best he is a mental masturbator. At worst, a coward.
Oh please don't nuke Detoilet or Chitcago! No!
So as consequence of a civil war brought about by the very folks who have made urban centers into anthills of parasitic liberals and Free Shit Army foot soldiers, these places would disappear in a mushroom cloud?
OK, so what's the downside?
