Hartford Courant demands blood in the streets if that's what it takes for firearms confiscation. Only thing is, they don't seem to believe that it will be THEIR risk they're running. Silly sods.

"State Can't Let Gun Scofflaws Off Hook -- Gun Registration: Break the law, pay the price." I don't think they appreciate the dimensions of the problem Lawlor and Malloy have made for themselves.
But the bottom line is that the state must try to enforce the law. Authorities should use the background check database as a way to find assault weapon purchasers who might not have registered those guns in compliance with the new law.
A Class D felony calls for a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Even much lesser penalties or probation would mar a heretofore clean record and could adversely affect, say, the ability to have a pistol permit.
If you want to disobey the law, you should be prepared to face the consequences.
Yeah, right, you morons. That also applies to you and the Law of Unintended Consequences.
David Codrea points out: "Courant demands on gun enforcement present dilemma for state."
And have they considered what having their bluff called will do to produce an epiphany, and embolden gun owners everywhere, when it suddenly becomes clear to all who holds the true power in this country if they would only first realize and then exercise it?

"Enforce the laws". Meanwhile we have approximately 120,000 ILLEGAL aliens running around loose in our state at an annual cost of close to one billion dollars to the tax payers.
The Hartford Courant is the poor man's Pravda without the integrity.

I suggest two things.

First, the authors and editors offer to be the very first members to go door to door in confiscation and arrest raids.

Second, that they won't, they know they won't and the ONLY reason this editorial was published was to get exposure.

This editorial is akin to a Paris Hilton porn.

Lotsa hype, little actual substance and in the end just another trifling whore lacking self respect and seeking attention at all costs.

Sounds to me like they are trying to incite a violent situation making themselves unintended participants.

Perhaps the good little sycophants at the Courant need a primer on the Clinton rules of engagement.

Connecticut probably has fewer journalists that it has LEO's - just saying.

And one minor nit to pick on your last letter: By sending on Saturday, you've given their IT people all weekend to hit delete, before the rank and file show up Monday AM. Hopefully your sources can confirm delivery.

Thanx again, Mike.

I would like to congratulate the Hartford Courant for having volunteered to be first in line for the "Clinton rules of engagement" for media.

Is it irrational to say that gun owners should kick in his door and murder this Nazi where he stands in the same manner he demands for others who were perfectly legal prior to this Intolerable Act being passed?

Examples must be made after all.

Gun registration: Support tyranny, pay the price! So many lefties think that having an unconstitutional law on their side, gives them some invisible layer of protection. When the time comes, to right a long train of abuses, I'd like to see, in reality, how that protection works. Should get interesting.

Hi Mike,
Perhaps send the Courant a copy of your post of Julius Streicher, "with pictures!" Only trouble is, they won't "Get the drift."

Given their proximity to Lexington and Concord, one would think they would remember the LAST time such an effort was made and the consequences therof.

Mr. Paine, murder is a bit extreme for most folks. I'm sure there are tar pots ad chicken farms somewhere in the state.

Treat the editorialist as your namesake likely would have. Apply a liberal coating of hot tar, add a layer of feathers, and ride him out of town on a rail. It's probably going to hurt, and it will certainly be embarrassing.

taking power away from the people has always been the plan to control voters. Public servants are not what politicians are anymore - paid manipulators.

Sorry, I'm late to this party. This is just a passing thought.... But isn't the use of the data base for "finding" anyone technically illegal? The paid DROS paper work through FFL, and the accompanying database checks etc are supposed to be only for clearing someone to own a weapon and after that is done the records of said DROS and database check are destroyed. So if they have the data and paperwork still (some states have a time limit on holding both out here in Cali it's 4-Evah! De facto registration) accessing it for any purpose other than the legally described use for getting a gun would be a violation if the state defined terms right, thus illegal use of the data? Just as I said a passing though.

Dedwzyl it seems to me that You are absolutely correct, that info is technically supposed to be unobtainable until the gun in question is recovered at a crime scene. However with the current regime in power I'm guessing the dept of justice/atf will soon be used the same way the IRS is, in an effort to hurt freedom loving people who are concerned about the present sad state this country has declined to.

If they can use the NCIS database that is illegal. That check is "suppose" to be destroyed after 24 hours. I know that the Federal form 4473 is kept on site. To get those it would take a warrant. Then they have to comb through all of the records looking for the "assault weapons".

They are making noise right now because it is ALL they CAN do.... They initiated this unconstitutional ballbaggery in the hopes that gun owners in CT would be SO intimidated that they would be tripping over themselves to register so as not to offend those in power. Oops....
Didn't happen.... Now what? Malloy CANNOT back down, or back awy without losing serious credibility. He's stuck. So are the legislators that voted to enact this. Resolution will NOT come from them.... So, only 2 foreseeable outcomes left.
1) Someone from OUTSIDE CT will have to come in and both diffuse the situation, AND negotiate a new way forward OR,
2)This will linger in political and legal limbo until someone in law enforcement does something really stupid and lights the fuse. THEN' it becomes the mess that NO ONE in their right mind wanted. National guard gets called in, along with some federal elements, and Patriots from ALL over America descend on CT and most likely NY to wipe them out.
SOMEBODY in that legislature had better stop worrying about saving face, and DO SOMETHING to ratchet this down. This has the potential to light the fuse in ALL 50 states when the feds get involved. Every last sumbitch with a federal ID, I don't care if they're custodians and secretaries, will be in patriot crosshairs. They are GROSSLY misreading the resolve AND sentiment of the American gun owner right now.... And if they begin kicking down doors in CT and threatening women and children with chambered firearms in response to pushback from gun owners, there will be NO walking this back when bodies on both sides begin stacking up. The 2nd American revolution will have begun.
