Breaking News: Source claims ATF's Tampa SAC walked guns to HONDURAS! Part of Operation Castaway? Exclusive Report by David Codrea & Mike Vanderboegh.

A. Brian Albritton, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. It may not look like it, but that chair he's sitting in just became the latest hot seat of the Gunwalker Scandal.

Breaking News: Source claims ATF's Tampa SAC walked guns to Honduras. Part of Operation Castaway?

Exclusive Special Report by David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh.

Virginia O’Brien, Special Agent in Charge at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Tampa Field Division, ran a gun-running investigation that was walking guns to Honduras using the techniques and tactics identical to Fast and Furious, it was reported to these correspondents this evening via private correspondence from a proven credible source.

On 21 September, 2010, A. Brian Albritton, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida issued a press release on Operation Castaway:

United States Attorney A. Brian Albritton, Virginia O’Brien, Special Agent in Charge of central and northern Florida Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) operations, and Susan McCormick, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations, Tampa Field Office announce the initial results of Operation Castaway, an intensive and wideranging Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force ("OCDETF") firearms trafficking investigation conducted by ATF, ICE, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, and the Miami-Dade Police Department. ATF describes Operation Castaway as the most significant firearms trafficking investigation in Central Florida history.

According to court documents, a group of defendants connected to Hugh Crumpler, III, were involved in a major international gun trafficking operation. . . . Firearms like those involved in this investigation are often smuggled through Honduras and other Central and South American countries before being used in violent crimes in Mexico and other countries in the region. A number of the firearms trafficked by the defendants in Operation Castaway have been linked to violent crimes around the world.

The press release concluded, "This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys J. Bishop Ravenel and E. Jackson Boggs. Operation Castaway remains an ongoing investigation."

SAC O’Brien was previously the Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Field Division, was later promoted to the Deputy Assistant Director of ATF, but then stepped down to the position in Tampa. Whether the allegations of our source refer to the on-going Operation Castaway remains at this hour unclear, but our source is certain that O'Brien has allowed the "walking" of straw-purchased firearms to Honduras using the same failed strategy as the Phoenix Field Division's Operation Fast and Furious. That Operation Castaway involved arms smuggling to Honduras is also certain.

"This is confirmed as accurate," the correspondence continued. "There are emails in existence where O’Brien has advised those involved that Tampa does not have to report their walked guns because Tampa FD is not a part of Southwest Border or Project Gunrunner."

"From a first person source she is shitting herself trying to cover it up," the report stated.

No one from ATF is available at this late hour to approach for comment. This information has also reportedly been disclosed to Chairman Darrell Issa of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and Ranking Senate Judiciary Committee Member Charles Grassley for follow-up and investigation.

Maricopa County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio and his aparatchikii have been building a relationship with Honduran LEO's for years. My guess is that they are setting up a place to run to, if the SHTF (like most strong-men types). I would be amazed if MCSO didn't have a piece of the Honduran Gunwalker action. worth sniffing around.

You should print up some Bingo cards with Central American countries - first person to get five in a row wins the Gunwalker Grand Prize (but would that be immunity or a walked gun?)

It appears that OBrian has a double standard when it involves her personal agenda about guns

after reading your post it makes me wonder if they were "really" stolen or just more for the pipeline.

Another tidbit from the JBT's

U.S. Attorney Robert E. O’Neill stated, “Our message is clear, sell a gun to a
convicted felon and you will go to prison. Taking guns out of the hands of violent offenders continues to be a top priority at the Department of Justice.”
Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Field Division, Virginia O’Brien stated,
“Today’s sentencing of Jacquelin Louis is a result of the dedication and hard work by the men and women of the ATF Orlando office. This investigation highlights one of ATF’s primary functions, which is to enforce the federal firearms laws and keep guns from those who cannot legally possess them.”

Ya Operation Castaway, like cast away the rule of law, the oaths of office taken, and every concept of morality in the public service.
Who are the real enemies of The United States?
Who and what should be on the DHS domestic terrorist watch list?
With crooks liars and traitors like these running and operating our law enforcement agencies, who needs enemies? These people are doing a fine job of undermining our great nation from the inside out.
Rule of Law? Bah! That's for the little people.
Oath of Office? Bah! Smoke screen for domestic enemies.
Law Enforcement? Any credibility and trust within that entire community just went down the crapper.
Disgusting.
Totally disgusting.
Unacceptable in every imaginable sense. These people broke the trust of America plain and simple.
When the very folks who are hired, paid and intrusted to uphold the law and protect American's and America are the ones who are violating the law the entire system of checks and balances has broken down. These arrogant men and woman are so omnipotent in their superiority they are above any law or moral code, but what they choose for themselves.
They, for all intent, are public enemy number 1.

I will once again ask "WWLED?"

As in "What will "Law Enforcement" do?" They do NOT work for Congress. They ALLEGEDLY are Officers of the Court, and as such SHOULD respond to direction therefrom. HOWEVER:

1. The Administration signs their paychecks.
2. They are ALREADY ignoring contempt citations for the Administration from the Obamatorium case.
3. This would be a criminal trial, not a civil one like the Obamatorium where private parties were able to sue. Does anyone REALLY expect the DOJ to prosecute EVEN ONE criminal case against Gunwalkers?

" Maricopa County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio and his aparatchikii have been...."

BULLS*IT. Arpaio wouldn't have gone anywhere near this without blowing the whistle and I bet he was excluded from participation or knowledge for that exact reason. Not to mention the fact that the feds don't like sharing information or power of any type.

Arpaio is no friend of the feds and they've tried to harm him in every way possible as often as possible.

But it was a good try, Anonymous. Maybe somebody will even believe you. And that's what you do and hope for, isn't it?

We tend to know who our friends and enemies are here, and some of us have been spotting your people for quite some time. But I do wonder who is paying your salary.

Care to share that with us?

The man at the center of this trafficking operation, Hugh Crumpler III, is an interesting study:

1.) He deals in short-barreled rifles, an AOW firearm.
2.) He sells firearms at gun shows
3.) He owes the IRS a lot of money.

"Crumpler has pleaded guilty to unlicensed firearms dealing, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine and possession of unregistered firearms, the short-barreled rifles, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine."

"ATF agents had their first contact with Crumpler Aug. 23, 2009, at the Southern Classic Gun and Knife Show in Orlando.

"Crumpler displayed guns for sale at shows around the state, according to the plea agreement. That is perfectly legal if you are selling your own guns and a loophole allows buyers to skip a background check and a mandatory three-day waiting period that is required if they purchase a gun from a licensed dealer at the same show, agents said. All the buyers must do is show proof, such as a driver's license, that they are Florida residents."

"Agents said financial problems appeared to be his motivation for selling guns. Records show Crumpler filed for bankruptcy in 2003 and had at least four federal tax liens, totaling more than $35,000, filed against him. Crumpler typically made $350 profit from selling a gun, agents said. More than 200 firearms and $50,000 in cash were seized from Crumpler's home and vehicle."

http://www.caribbeannewsnow.com/colombia.php?news_id=1576&start=0&category_id=81

Please note that he is heavily indebted to the government, which makes him vulnerable to confidential informant deal-making. He trafficks in scary-looking "assault rifles" and he purveys these items to buyers without first performing a background check.

Does anyone here other than me think this fails the "smell test"?

Yep Crumpler sounds like he got trapped up and folded like a lawn chair to the fed's scheme.

Focus on SAC Virginia O'Brian. I spent enough years in foreign intel and domestic criminal investigations to know that crooks/bad guys (and gals) are really not all that smart. If they got away with a crime in one place they will do the same thing over and over.

She was in charge in Phoenix...now she is in Florida and tied to an operation that appears to have been launched after gun runner and fast and furious. Look at her promotion and then willingness to move to Florida.

Turn a blow torch on her and see if the heat and bright light of public scrutiny make her crack. Will she be another John Dean? I doubt if she has the guts of Gordon Liddy.
