Breaking story: Grassley & Issa catch Eric Holder with his cover-up underwear down around his ankles.

From a letter by Senator Grassley and Congressman Issa to Eric Holder released this morning:

We have recently learned that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has afforded potential witnesses for the Committee's investigation into Operation Fast and Furious access to a shared drive on its computer system replete with pertinent investigative documents, including ATF e-mails. Although our staff has been advised the Department has since terminated access to this document cache, we write to seek additional information relating to this egregious decision. We also ask that you promptly self-report this matter to the Office of Inspector General (OIG).

As we understand it, the shared drive contains the documents that have been produced to the Committees through the course of our investigation, those made available for in camera review and possibly documents that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has not yet provided to the Committee. These witnesses had not previously seen many of these documents.

Allowing witnesses access to such documents could taint their testimony by allowing them to tailor their responses to what they think the Committees already know. Additionally, witnesses who gain access to documents they have not previously seen could alter their recollection of events. This practice harms not only our investigation, but also the independent investigation that you instructed the Inspector General to conduct.

One witness who had access to these documents informed us of this questionable practice:

Q: What other documents have you gone through other than your emails?

A. A couple of the things that have been produced. They put a link on our computer, some kind of drive that I can click on and read things that have been produced. So I do that every once in a while, but not normally.

Q: And what is the purpose of that, to your knowledge?

A. Just to refresh my recollection about what is out there, you know.

Q: So you have a link on your computer so that you know what we have been provided by Justice?

A. Yes. There is a link in our computer for Gunrunner, Fast and Furious produced to Congress, and there is updates every once in a while of those documents that are being produced.

Link to PDF of the letter.

LATER: Dave Workman also reports I beat him by five minutes.

If that's Holders body above those panties...I may be willing to share a cell for a while ;-)

I would caution those who post here - those who love freedom - measure your words carefully. True tyranny has taken root - we live in dangerous times.

For Col Bat Guano:
"evidentiary integrity"??? Surely you jest! There IS no "evidentiary integrity" in this country any more. Just look at the recent Casey Anthony case, and all the perjury the presiding judge allowed the prosecution to present without ANY consequences. And don't think that the Florida bar or the Florida court system is going to do anything about it, either.

Rule of law? We ain't GOT no steenkin' Rule of Law! We merely have Thugs with Guns. And the stench is overwhelming.

It seems there are so many leaks to this case. Seems like there are many honnest, well intentioned public service employees who are aghast at the whole operation and very willing to help anyone who will resolve it. Holder and BO should wise up and understand the leaks are so vast there is really no way out for them.

Dutchman,

Any chance you could get a real lawyer to opine for our edification what may or may not separate what DOJ did from witness tampering?

They knew it all and from the beginning.

Hillary and Janet too.

Rope.

Tree.

Tyrant.

Some assembly required.

Fast and Furious: What did Obama and Holder know and when did they know it?

I believe they both knew from the beginning. I think their plan was to raise the gun count to re-inact a new and improved AWB.

Holder's in charge of DOJ and ATF. He knew and is implicit in the deaths of 2 federal agents and untold Mexican and American citizens.

If he didn't know, he's incompetent and needs to be removed from office immediately.

Unbelievable information you have obtained, very interesting and damning to Holder and Obama. I just hope they hurry up and get these guys before they cover up everything, because they are as guilty as hell. Very good work. I really enjoy this website.

Mark Matis: No argument from me on that. It's the ruling class versus the country class until the financials collapse. Only in poverty is there equality.

Frequent readers of this blog may find themselves occasionally bemused by Mark Matis' cynical pseudo-sophistication, e.g., "Rule of law? We ain't GOT no steenkin' Rule of Law! We merely have Thugs with Guns. And the stench is overwhelming."

The ancient Sophist, Thrasymachos, is thought to be the father of this political philosophy: Justice is nothing more than the advantage of the strong.

Abby Hoffman rephrased it as "Justice means just us."

Taken seriously, this idea undermines the not just the rule of law, but every moral standard as well.

When good men absent themselves from the political arena, the resultant void is quickly filled with bad guys. One of my favorite political philosophers highlighted the problem with this pithy quote: All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing.

Thank God for good men like Mike and Dave, who are modern-day Paul Reveres. Rejecting cynicism and despair, they have taken the fight to the bad guys. We can win this.

MALTHUS

WV: facemet--the Fast and Furious investigation is when Eric Holder's facemet the brick wall.

You might think so, but Holder and Obozo know that testimony from rank-and-file agents can easily be either blocked (with the help of equally corrupt Democrat congresswhores) or neutralized by testimony from higher-ups that the low-level witness "didn't know the whole picture."

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for your continued effort in exposing this.
