"Could Gillett ‘cooperation’ with Grassley probe bring down ATF hierarchy?"
Speculation is rampant since Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley revealed in a letter to ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson that Phoenix Assistant Special Agent in Charge George Gillett was, through and in conjunction with his attorney, “cooperating with” Grassley’s investigation of ATF’s Project Gunrunner.
Earlier, when Gillett was not invited to a Gunrunner confab at ATF headquarters, there was speculation that ATF higher-ups were planning to throw Gillett under the bus. It was a question about not being at that meeting that caused Gillette to quickly terminate a telephone conversation with this column early last month. . .
What is important now is that Gillett is talking. On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, ATF’s Special Agents in Charge are gathering at headquarters to discuss Gunrunner.
One ATF source told this column late Friday that this next week could be “pretty interesting.” The source did not elaborate. He didn’t have to.
With the meetings this week, the whole ATF leaking coverup information like a sieve, and with his own personal lawyer probably urging him to roll before the opportunity was lost forever, Ken "The Gunwalker Man" Melson had a wet dream last night:
Unfortunately for Melson, it was just a wet dream.

Can you say -- "Target of Opportunity?"
I knew you could.
Ahhh, to be a fly on the wall, with camera, recorder and transmitter.

"Target of Opportunity" sounds much better to me.
Is there any risk (hope) of really big sink holes opening up in that area?
