I will not attempt to argue with you about your latest anti-firearms, pro-citizen disarmament screed. Having done that in the past, I realize the futility of the exercise. I would merely like to point out a section of the Law of Unintended Consequences as it applies to you.
In 1999, your buddy Bill Clinton changed the American rules of war as they then applied. The Serbs were being recalcitrant, so, in his frustration, he decided that the politicians, the news media and the intellectuals who laid the predicate for the enemy's war effort were legitimate targets of war. To this end, he dispatched precision guided munitions into the homes of various politicians and the broadcast studios of Serbian radio and television. They managed to kill some security guards, makeup artists and janitors.
Fast forward to today.
Now, a recent CNN poll showed that 56% of the American people now view the federal government -- you know, the one you are so enamored of, the one you wish to give a monopoly of violence to by disarming the citizenry -- constitutes a clear and present danger to their liberties. This is the eternal question: Which is to be the master? The government or the people? You obviously believe the answer is the government. At least 56% of your countrymen disagree. And this question, THE question, MUST be answered, WILL be answered, and one side or the other will lose. And if politics fail, as it now seems likely, many, many people will die in the process.
Indeed, the country was not this divided in 1861. Yet, here you are, parroting the line of the imperial federal government at a time when a considerable portion of our people (as evidenced by the incredible numbers of firearms and ammunition now being purchased in this country) are preparing for any eventuality, up to and including civil war.
So, my question is, what makes you think that the people who insist upon their traditional liberties regardless of your "enlightened" opinions WON'T play by Bill Clinton's rules of engagement after the shots begin to fly?
You are either very clueless, or very brave.
But I mention it just in case you hadn't thought the unintended consequences of your advocacy of federal tyranny through to their, shall we say, uncomfortable conclusion.

Since you have to decided to advocate for denying our rights to us to make this country a safer place for tyrants like yourself to operate, you Sir are no different than a Tory, a Vishy, a Quisling, a traitor. All the violence as of late, including the gunman you mention, have all been registered demo-rats. As they see there entitlements they voted for themselves go to others, you will see more of this. Absurdly and like the stooges your type is, you will try to paint them as your favorite whipping boy, gun owners. To bad the facts get in the way. Your going to see more of this Obot mayhem as the nutjob you have to be sees their "yes we can" totalitarian state being beat down by loyal Americans who know NATIONAL SOCIALISTS when they see one. All the fantasy Entitlements denied, they will turn to violence, as socialists always do. Remember, a socialist is a communist who has not figured out where the guns are yet...
I would wish you long life and happiness, but you big sewer of a mouth is writing checks it cannot cash, and one day it will disrespect the wrong Obot, and in those last moments you may finally understand that you have been trashing the wrong people. Your countrymen who will hold back the tide of socialist hate mongers and parasites who think everything, including your life is fair game for their ownership.

As a health care professional, based on his article, the first thing I'd consider were he a patient would be a thorough mental health examination. His article was one of the worst cases of projection I've seen lately.
Naturally, he would never place himself at the front of the pack of those attempting to disarm America's 150 million gun owners, who own between 600 and 750 million guns, he'll try to convince surrogates to do his dirty work. After 50-75% of those surrogates meet a fitting end, the remaining ones will hunt down Mr. Thomasson, and most of those like him, and provide them with justice.
We Three Percent will let them.

I find these people thoroughly reprehensible in personality and in principles. They represent all of the worst traits of society all bundled into one.
Ever notice how the Anti-gun crowd loves to label gun owners as paranoid and they never acknowledge thier own paranoia towards firearms? Hmmmmm....let's see.....only an idiot could deny the evidence of the assualt on the Second Amendment and that FACT that Guns Saves Lives.
