The art (and calculation) of the deal. "Cruz-Hating Republicans Need a Reality Check."

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. This sound aphorism may have a less pithy political corollary: Never attribute to strategy what can be explained by emotion. Only this truth can help us understand why Republican officials have started saying they prefer Donald Trump to Senator Ted Cruz as their presidential nominee. Congressional Republicans would supposedly come out ahead with Trump because he would be a stronger nominee and a more cooperative president.

I'm not sure what we're supposed to take away from a Bloomberg View of the Republican primaries.

Maybe Trump's service to the nation was to clear the field of establishment republicans. We will find out next week if Ted can take over the lead all the way to the finish line.

Cruz is the worst nightmare of the Washington cartel whether it be an R or a D. Trump has always been a part of the cartel; he has help to finance it for years. He's just now playing the game and telling the suckers what they want to hear but once he's elected we will just have more or the same; more big government and less liberty, don't ya know!

Trump loves big government; it has made him rich!

So, the GOP want to try to co-op the Donald if he makes it to the White House, right? But if, as some folks are saying, Trump has delusions of grandeur, (or not), wouldn't that make him less likely to make a deal, (with the establishment), that does not make him look "fantastic"? The man has a Hollywood mentality. He gets his political energy from crowd approval. Wouldn't that make him more likely to follow through with all the promises and boasts he's made already? Slick Willy lived and breastfed on crowd approval. It ended up being a force that helped keep him closer to the middle, (well, that and a GOP dominated Congress). If Trump builds the Mexican wall, irregardless of who pays for it, kills a very large number of terrorists, TAKES THE SYRIAN Oil and maybe some of the Iraqi oil too, rebuilds our military to unassailable levels and changes the trade game so that America ends up on top again...would that be a good thing?

The only Constitutional Republican is Rand Paul. Yet people still want the authoritarian or the Canuck. This country is screwed. If you really want to stick it to republicans then vote Libertarian. Though most people simply want a master so they will continue to vote for the candidate that promises to swap out the boot that is pressing down on their throats.

Please explain the effective/functional difference between your suggestion to vote libertarian and my plan to go camping in the Gila National Forest that week. At least I'll be away from any noise/stress and resting/relaxing.

Cruz wife is an Goldman Sachs Employee. The same Goldman Sachs that "installed" Prime Ministers in Greece and Italy.
Cruz violated the Law by failing to disclose a loan from Goldman Sachs.
He has flip-flopped om immigration.
He is not a Native Born Citizen. But like Obama, is getting a pass.
I am going to hold my nose and vote for Trump. Have to keep trying the ballot box.

+1 for a vote for Gary Johnson
A vote for the lesser of two excrements, is still a vote for excrement.

I suspect it is the political elites waging psy ops to keep the mudslinging going between their two least favorite candidates...and its working. What if Cruz joined Trump in refusing to show up at Megan Kelly's debate.

Is anyone who is endorsing Cruz looked at where this guy comes from and who he is married to? He not only is not constitutionally eligible to be president but he is a Goldman Sachs shill who`s wife was a member of the CFR and wrote part of the North American Union! Their is only one constitutional conservative that is the real deal on liberty! And that is Rand Paul. Most here acknowledge that Trump is a fraud and a very dangerous canidate to anyone who loves their Liberty. But Cruz is also a fraud and just as dangerous, may God give us the insight to recognize our enemy`s and deal with them accordingly!

Every Single One Of Them Is A Fraud.

So far though, Cruz is the only one constitutionally ineligible to be president.

They're all cronies. Voting for the least crony still results in cronyism.

My vote will be libertarian. Cruz has no empathy for the disadvantaged, formerly hard working members of society who through no choice of their own, must rely on Medicare, or Social Security, which these citizens have paid for. Cruz's statements and actions leave me no choice to believe that he just wants to scrabble into the 1%, without thought for the others, including natural born gun owners, who may make a difference in the Presidential election. Cruz is just another Romney in a different disguise. If Trump's newly discovered populism is real, more power to him. I'll still vote for Rand Paul.
