In order to counter the well-financed propaganda effort, Nevadans for State Gun Rights has created a fact sheet that presents counter-arguments to those voters are being exposed to, and that warns against the loss of rights should they heed what the Bloomberg coalition is trying to make them believe. Supporters who object to and wish to respond to Sen. Smith’s Everytown talking point-parroting “editorial” can submit letters to the Gazette-Journal being careful to observe the paper’s requirements, including limiting them to 200 words.
My own letter to the editor:
State Senator Debbie Smith would like to exceed the appetites of King George III and subject all private transactions in firearms to the power of the state, exercising her own apparent hunger for other citizens' liberty and property. What she doesn't say is what she intends to do when Nevada firearm owners, like their Washington state counterparts, commit armed civil disobedience to nullify such an unconstitutional diktat and dare the state to do anything about it. This is what I witnessed in Olympia, WA in December. Two thousand armed men and women gathered on the lawn of the state capitol, broke the new law and waited to see what the state would do about it. They did NOTHING. Is this what Smith has in mind for Nevada? To pass an unenforceable law that can only increase disrespect for the larger rule of law? You would think the stand-off at the Bundy ranch would teach unthinking collectivists like Smith something of the real world they are intending to exercise their tyrannical appetites in. Sit down at this table, and at best they will experience frustration and indigestion. They will look like impotent fools. Is that what she has in mind?
