Sounds like you need one of us who's saying you can fix it yourself to step up and fix it for you. I'm willing, but you may not know me well enough to trust me with the keys to your kingdom (Blogger login details). Hopefully somebody you DO know well enough will volunteer.
Mike, your ELINT OPSEC is inadequate. Start with getting a free copy of Ubuntu installed with maximum security settings. Shut off wireless access except when needed. Change all your passwords ASAP and use high strength passwords or USB password management.
Mike, can you and David have a web site together that has two different sides. The War On Guns and Sipsey Street Irregulars addresses both can go to the same side. On the home page there can be a button that can take a reader to one half or the other. Just a thought.
Ok, but keep one eye out the window for the wandering cows coming on your property. SPLC already has you on their list for a Predator drone strike. If it saves only one "only one"...
Mike, That is exactly how Mindful Musings came apart. Then everything went to code for some reason. Even my backup did it. Hence no more. I'd go to Wordpress myself. Seems to work well for others. CA did it. Thanks for all you do! I only hope you don't lose everything like i did.
Agree--you need someone who knows how, not someone who knows how to tell you. Personally, I would trust Bill St. Clair with the keys, Mike. I've never met him in person, but have been following his stuff for like forever, and based on the principled morality he has always consistently displayed I would let him shave my throat with a straight razor.
Mike, I'll also offer a reference for Bill St. Clair (for what it's worth, since you don't really know me either [grin]). We've worked on stuff on and off for several years.
Let us know what you find and fix. It'll be useful to know if Blogger ever does it to me. I sometimes have to argue HTML coding for posts, but I've never had it screw with my templates.
(Hey, Linux folks: Unless you're willing to do the set up and shell out the bucks, generic "switch to Ubuntu-or-Linus-distro-of-the-day" remarks aren't very useful. Some of us have professional commitments and hardware limitations that limit us to Microsquish-World. And unless Mike has mentioned something I missed, I don't think we know this was a Windows security issue anyway; sounds more like a server-side prob.)
Any competent tech should have access to Webex or some similar tool.
With such, it would be trivial for your helper to "remote control" your PC while you watch, and you could type any passwords necessary without divulging them to anyone. Should they start to do ANYTHING you don't like, you can disconnect them instantly with a single mouse-click!
Further, if you both have broadband you SHOULD be able to talk through your PCs mic/speakers while working - in fact some clients support video-conferencing like "skype" as well, so you can actually SEE one another as you talk and work.
I would be HONORED to be allowed to assist in this manner if you like - you know how to reach me!
Carl-Bear, I know there's a hurdle setting up Ubuntu in the learning curve for operating it - in 95% of all cases it really is 'press play' and watch it go to work. If I lived near Mike I would offer, I don't. Windows is a security crapfest. Besides the deliberate backdoors (official denial is equivalent to confirmation) it is so open to rootkits, trojans, stack overflow attacks and general insecurity that using it for anything serious is akin to offering the keys to you comm to any interested enemy. You may say it's not useful, I say information is useful, especially when there is evidence that you have been compromised.

This is certainly different, but hey! If we can read the words, it works just fine. Don't sweat it so much, dear friend.

Mike, I'm liking the new look. It's very feminine. :-)

love the color changes Mike... you've been watching too much HGTV lately?

What is wrong Mike? If it is just a theme issue, you should be able to select a different theme.
The major question is: Is all your data intact?
If you will allow, I can help.
go wordpress

Wow! Thanks for the votes of confidence, David and Carl-Bear. I think I'm blushing.
