The Failed State of California: A Modest Proposal from Walter Russell Mead.

SCOTUS Makes It Official: California A Failed State

Tom Joad: "Where we goin' now, Ma?"
Ma Joad: "Back east, I reckon. The dust bowl weren't as bad as California nowadays."

I have a liberal sister who lives in Santa Clarita, who ran for Congress in '96. And she still spouts the progressive line, lock, stock and barrel. Those people cannot see the forest for the Sequoias (and you know how big Sequoias are).

All we can hope for is the San Andreas fault. Of course, it wouldn't be anyone's "fault" being in CA.

As long as we're going to be carving up Californian, may we carve out the District of Columbia too?

Don't mistake cunning for ignorance.

Sigh. I live in northern Steinbeck. The only saving grace is Steinbeck is where most of the dairy farmers live - unless Pelosiland succeeds in driving them out of business. Salt of the earth people are dairy farmers.

Other than my time in the Army, having spent over 4 decades in this state, for those of you who think you know how bad it is here...it is much WORSE!!!

I have literally watched the plunge into socialism and police state thuggery before my very eyes and have been absolutely helpless to prevent it. When I talk about individual freedom (other than drug usage and gay marriage), liberty, and free enterprise I am treated as a freak.

Talking with a friend the other day, I realized that I have seen more police writing traffic citations in the last two years than I have in the previous four decades...and it seems to get worse daily with some new restrictive law or regualtion passed "for or own good."

I still have a decent job so I haven't left yet however I don't know how much longer I will be gainfully employed and then I will finally have my excuse to tell the wife it's time to head for freer climes.
