Unlike Fidel or the majority of Latin Americans, most Americans don't give a damn about soccer. Pro, College, and HS Football; basketball, baseball, and to a lesser extent ice hockey and Nascar are the dominant sports in America. Without the Latinos, the pro soccer league in the US would be bankrupt and even with them is marginally profitable.
