Viewed as a tool, the AK style Russian rifle has been and continue to be at the root cause of just about all the armed strife in the world. I will always hold this weapon in disdain.
I said it was AT the root cause, not THE root cause. The root cause was, and is, evil people. Never-the-less, the AK has probably been used more then any other weapon to cut down unarmed innocent victims, spray unsuspecting crowds with bullets and raised over the perps head like a flag more than any other weapon.
As a tool, it is a mostly a bullet spraying device much like the old American "grease gun", the blueprints for which were NOT handed over to practically ever single homicidal despot world wide. It's remains an ugly, inaccurate but frustratingly resilient piece of crap bullet spraying machine most often utilized by evil men and women world wide.
I've never, ever seen an AK used in any marksmanship contest. Proof they are not accurate. And one of the reasons it is so frustratingly resilient is because of it's loose and sloppy chamber and how loosely it fits together, making it continue to fire after being thrown in a mud hole and run over by a column of trucks. Having no recoil, a seven year old jihadi can be coerced into walking into a pizza restaurant and spraying bullets successfully.
I never once mentioned the word "ban". The AK is what it is. If it was all I had to fight with, I'd definitely use it. But I can't justify laying down hard earned dollars for one. And if it's the fact that there is more AK ammo than grains of sand out there in the world, I'll just build an AR chambered for 7.62 X 39mm. Then I can shoot captured ammo at the enemy.
So, anonymous, for a rifle to not be evil, it has to be benchrest accurate, kick like a mule, unreliable, and uncommon, and use hard to find ammo? BTW, if you are going to pick ammo from the enemy and shoot it back at them, you had better have something chambered in 5.56X45mm. If you are ever facing an organized 'enemy', that is the round you will most likely be facing.
That is utter nonsense. The AK may not be a precision rifle, but it is easily a 3 MOA rifle and that is adequate for combat inside 500 meters. The rifle is not inaccurate. The men holding them often are, but that's their problem.
There's plenty of YouTube videos of people using AKs to ring 12" steel at 300 yards with boring repetition. Check out videos from Rob Ski and MrGunsngear. They shut the door on all that "AKs are inaccurate bullet sprayers" crap.
I can assume that each and every Mass Murderer and Nazi Executioner etc. had at one time USED TOILET PAPER Therefore I can only assume that the TP is the cause of all the evil in the world. This makes as much sense as blaming the AK on all the killing. Evil people will use whatever weapon at hand, whether it's a club, spear, knife and the list goes on and on. In my collection I have a Ruger Mini-30 plus a couple of AK's. Same exact ammo yet the AK is the one that gets all the blame. Personally I think that confining the wackadoodles would be better than the Gubmint seizing all the guns. Just my 2 cents worth.

First thing I notice is it has nearly twice the sight radius.

Why in the world would anyone consider decreasing the recoil impulse from the type-74?
As an fairly early-adopter (at least going back to '98) of that round in the AK, I can attest to its almost total LACK of recoil.
Anonymous @ 10:26 AM - How are you different from gun banners that blame evil guns for violence?
The root cause of the armed strife in the world is the ideologies of the bad actors, not their tools.

@anonymous 10:26 AM: Blame your government and the banks/MIC that control them for the strife in the world, not an inanimate object.
@ 10:26 Should we blame pens for all the unconstitutional laws?

If that's not evil, I don't know what is.

Inaccurate?
I don't think so.
