Not all who can are distancing from states enacting anti-gun edicts

It seems fair to ask why NRA does not show leadership by suspending law enforcement training activities in states they recognize as repressive, and that even gun makers feel compelled to flee.

The NRA is too busy helping the loyalist regimes implement and enforce gun control measures like permission slips, background checks, fingerprints and training requirements that ITSELF can and will make boatloads of money for "providing".

The NRA wouldn't dare stop its LEO training, much less its instructor training because it really doesn't care about the Second Amendment or anyone's individual liberty. It cares about preserving and growing its own political power and influence so it can ensure government forces all of us to gain permission to exercise out "rights" so long as we pay government AND the NRA

We can never win the fight unless we are open and honest about things - especially the antics of the NRA.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and Americans for Responsible Solutions do not like the antics of the NRA either. I understand that they are looking for gun owners to join them so perhaps you would be happier with them.

The NRA needs to acquire as much political power as it can to ensure that it can influence politicians. Providing training to LEO’s and other organizations ensures that the NRA has an ear and a voice nationwide.

We can never win the fight unless people stop infighting and leveling ad hominem attacks against the largest pro-gun group in the USA.

Unless people stop the infighting huh Andy? You mean like NRA jumping into Alan Guras way? Or how about running interference while Rangle takes a bogus voice vote? Or hey, how about playing the "you gotta pass it to see what's in it" game? Or maybe even the "be the ONLY allowed speakers at a PUBLIC HEARING? You make me LAUGH Andy, talking about the "need" for the NRA to gain "political power" over individual RIGHTS. Meet the new boss - same as the old boss!

As it pertains to the Brady bunch etc, well you need to see the TRUTH that this day the NRA has more in common with them than with it does with true defenders of the right to keep and bear arms. They both have a vested interest in keeping their own bread buttered. Need evidence? Want a direct example from the here and now? Ok here you go...

The NRA just went OFFICIALLY NEUTRAL on legislation that not only reinstated EXACT language that was struck down as UNCONSTITUTIONAL by a federal court but also creates a permission slip system where none exists (the strictest in the nation as claimed by its author and NRA ally DEMOCRAT and as if helping the government implement this garbage isn't enough - the same legislation criminalizes the carrying if a friggin RIFLE.

All and them some stomached so that the NRA can make big bucks with the 16 hours of required training. You see Andy, I had the NRA lobbyist tell me to my face that the NRA was more concerned with POSSIBLE rifle bans than with Illinoisans BAN on carrying period. Only now do I realize exactly what he meant - concerned with making sure RIFLE CARRYING is banned!!!

Maybe we could talk about how the NRA made DAMN sure that violation of rights can't be made whole within monetary awards? Or how the NRA makes sure nobody in Illinois dared organize or participate in a purposeful open carry event - making it clear that the NRA would not only not help out after the fact but indeed leave anyone who dared hanging out there alone. Or hey we could talk about how a boy wore a NRA tee shirt to school, got hemmed up and the NRA left even that boy hanging out to dry while another gun rights organization had to step up. Maybe we could talk about the right to "hunt" and where that REALLY got started? Or hey how about the SILENCE from the NRA over GunWalker?

The list goes on and on - like how the NRA openly argued AGAINST constitutional carry and pressed "pro gun" republicans to vote for one of theist corrupt "shall issue" humdrums that ever existed INSTEAD of supporting a constitutional carry bill?!?!? Why OPPOSE such effort? Oh yeah - no MONEY for the NRA for required training and now "political power" to be gained.

The NRA IS A JOKE,Andy. It's just a political party by another name seeking self enrichment at the expense of innocent people seeking only to exercise their own rights. It seeks power and control over people Andy and the sooner you figure that out, the better. YOUR RIGHTS are a tool to them Andy, and they abuse that and you just like the usurper himself does.

Ill leave you with this one partner. Why would the NRA support a due process incorporation? The answer is simple - it, they, want to ENSURE that government retains false authority over our individual rights so that it can continue ENDLESSLY claiming to "stand and fight" so long as people keep pouring the money their way. How's that Harry Reid support as a great gun owner working out homie? And you have the nerve to tell me I ought to join the Brady bunch? Seriously? Open your eyes,Andy, to see the TRUTH. Indeed, witness the actuality that the Negotiating Rights Away organization is DOING exactly that!

Oh - and my name is Mike(though my last name doesn't start with a V)

Wow, that was one heck of a tirade. I guess we should just ask the NRA to disband because you disagree with some of the things they have done. What is the name of the pro-gun group that you represent and a list of the successes that they have achieved? I could not seem to find that in your long litany of things that have been done that you disagree with. I am not interested in getting into a point-by-point discussion of everything that has happened that you disagree with. Nor am I going to act as the NRA’s surrogate in this exchange. Like you, I am giving an opinion.

If you do not like what the NRA is doing, that is just too bad. You do not have to be a member of the organization nor do you have to give them any of your money. What the NRA supports, does not support, or is neutral about is not relevant either. The fact is, if someone sees something that they disagree with, he or she does not need a permission slip from the NRA to do something about it. An example would be the recent recall of two politicians in Colorado. While it is true that the NRA provided some financial support, the recall was an independent grassroots effort by people who were unhappy with their politician’s behavior. They saw a problem, took action, and were successful.

The NRA is not a legislative body that can pass laws and force people to follow them. If you go to Wikipedia, you will learn that the NRA “is an American nonprofit organization founded in 1871 that promotes firearm ownership, as well as police training, firearm safety, marksmanship, hunting and self-defense training in the United States”. In summary the NRA is not the gatekeeper of your Second Amendment rights; they are just another lobbying group. Therefore, there is no reason to blame them every time something happens that you do not agree with.

As I wrote before, since you hate the NRA so much you might be happier if you could associate with groups of people who feel the same way as you do. If you play your cards right, maybe they can get you into one of those commercials where you say, “I am a gun owner but…” and then attack the NRA. That should play well in New York.

Good luck.
