"Dangers to the community" or just the reputation of the Feds? Rick, Ryin, Remington and Terri Reese.
David Codrea writes, "Remaining jailed New Mexico gun dealers finally freed after bureaucratic delay."
Rick and Ryin Reese were released on bond yesterday afternoon, a source close to the case confirmed to Gun Rights Examiner last night. The father and son are part of a family of gun dealers jailed for allegedly knowingly selling guns to cartel members, but who were found not guilty on the most serious charges of conspiracy and had money laundering charges against them dismissed. They were convicted on a handful of lesser charges of making false statements on forms, basically under the presumption that they should have know federal agents were lying. Wife Terri was released on bond last year, and son Remington was cleared of all charges.
Simultaneously with an order that the defendants would get a new trial after deeming the prosecution had suppressed evidence denying them a fair one, U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Brack ordered the pair released on bond, an order probation officials were unable to comply with due to not having the required ankle monitors. This resulted in their being incarcerated for four days beyond the release order.
Later yesterday, David wrote:
"Government fought bail release claiming gun dealers a ‘danger to community’" Among the statements from jail phone intercepts that the government claimed showed that Reeses "pose(d) a danger to the community" were mentions of ATF misconduct at Waco and Ruby Ridge and this: “He did say that they are attempting to hide and seal a whole bunch of stuff that they are trying to open you know, and that’s really encouraging because it shows the depth of the depravity of the Justice Department, it shows that they are just lying cheating stealing, it shows they are whores.”
Telling the truth, it seems, is now to be held as evidence of your "threat to the community." David Continues:
This transparent attempt to portray the defendants as dangers to the community and as being too risky to grant bail, especially after almost 18 months behind bars with all major charges either dismissed or having been found not guilty of, and the further attempt to do so closed off from public scrutiny should raise serious doubts on the fitness of Gonzales to be elevated to a judgeship and more. A correspondence by a California attorney to N.M. Senator Martin Heinrich requesting an investigation for misconduct, to include the potential for disbarment and criminal prosecution, may point the way to similar efforts from both supporters of the Reese family and those simply interested in basic justice. American citizens are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and are not to be destroyed in the process of trying to defend themselves, with all their assets seized, against ambitious government careerists wielding essentially unlimited power and resources.
To my knowledge, David Codrea is the only person who has stayed with this story of Kafkaesque agony from the beginning, following all its twists and turns. One wonders when the beknighted "mainstream press" will notice.

I guess this family would be considered a risk and, according to the emperor and his corrupt to the core Justice Dept. ethicly justify to eliminate as per drone? Is this what we are facing?
It is standard operating procedure for both ATF and FBI, through the U.S. Attorneys Office, to go before a U.S. Magistrate or Judge and say that a defendant is (a), a flight risk, or (b) a threat to the community, or (c) both. Usually it is both. The criminal part is, as often as not, they are not require to give any evidence supporting their claims. Any lie will do. One would think that after hearing the U.S. Attorneys lie, time and time again, a magistrate or judge would demand something as proof. They do not. I have followed too many cases and nothing ever changes. Our so called justice system is staffed from top to bottom with whores perverted scum.
This will never be reported by the MSM because it shows how crooked this government is.
If lamestream newspapers were forced to write about stories of abuse at the hands of the government, they would have to use triple the amount of ink and paper they currently use to print a newspaper edition!
