Recent insomniac reading list . . .
Folks are always asking what I'm reading these days in the wee hours of the morning. Here's a recent sample:
I revisited an article by Stephen Halbrook in the Fall, 2009, issue of Journal on Firearms & Public Policy, "Arms in the Hands of Jews Are a Danger to Public Safety": Nazism, Firearm Registration, and the Night of Broken Glass. A vivid reminder that Hitler didn't need to pass any gun control registration laws in order to disarm his enemies, the Weimar Republic had already done that and saved him the trouble.
Grey Eminence: Fox Conner and the Art of Mentorship by Edward Cox. The only work available on the U.S. Army's greatest general nobody knows.
Defeat Into Victory: Battling Japan in Burma and India, 1942-1945 by Field-Marshal Viscount William Slim. Outstanding narrative that teaches many lessons on military leadership.
Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie. Classic memoir of Guadalcanal.
