Praxis: So, are you still checking those thrift stores, boys and girls?

Picked up a stainless steel canteen just like this one dated 1943, with intact cap, chain and cork in excellent shape for a dollar fifty-nine today. No cover or cup, just canteen. I ain't cryin'.

I've had my metal canteen since I was a kid. My dad gave it to me. Problem is, the cork is gone. I don't know where to get a replacement, maybe a thin piece of corkboard from the arts and crafts store?

I have had one of the Stainless Steel one from WWII for years. I had the issue with the cork also, I suggest going to a good hardware store and finding a O ring that will fit.

Basic to my sht and get kit is a pistol belt and 2 1943 canteens with cups and covers. I braise rabbit meat for stew in one and boil my coffee in the other. Corks are still good.

Goes good with my M1 and 4 bandoleers of the good stuff.
