Along the lines of "too much democracy." Former Obama advisor also wishes for the ability to order folks around.

Too Much of a Good Thing. Why we need less democracy.

"Certain aspects of representative government can end up posing serious problems. And so, we might be a healthier democracy if we were a slightly less democratic one."

We have enough tyranny on autopilot!

In one sense, he's right. But not in a way he'd like.

This is supposed to be a constitutional representative republic, with limits. Not a psuedo-absolute democracy in which the constitution can be violated at will so long as enough congress-scumsuckers vote to violate it.

But coming with Perdue's "joke" (which looked more like a "deniable" trial balloon than humor)...

Not good.

The one reassuring aspect of all this is that they apparently are still a little afraid of elections and the people (hence the wish to stop 'em).

He's right, fewer Democrats in government would be better.

What a bureaucratic crock of steaming statist offal.

A long look in the mirror would serve him well when it comes down to identifying the political class that has driven our nation to this point of chaos and conflicting ideologies.

A non-political bureaucratic commission making policy decisions... he should just 'out' his Communist allegiance and send a resume to Bejing.

We have ENOUGH bureaucracy NOT democracy.

the constitution does not use the word democracy. but the constitution limits the power of the federal government, it did not make democracy a theme, no one man one vote.

Democracy was not advocated at the state level, the constitution only says that the states will have a republican form of government.

But if the author wants less democracy then or to bypass the US constitution, well, thats unconstitutional.

Democracy is the pits when people don't vote the way the elite think they should. That's what the original Progressives thought and believed that the masses had to be tricked into supporting the ideas the elite thought should be implemented.

Doesn't matter anyway. The USA is not and never has been a democracy. In a democracy, the people vote directly to pass the laws. My understanding is that just such a system is used in some small municipalities in New England but certainly has never been done nationwide.

"To solve the serious problems facing our country, we need to minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions."

Translation: We were being transported to a Socialist Utopia until Republicans captured control of the US House and gave the Obamabus a flat tire. To effectuate our goal of installing a rule by the elite over the unwashed masses, an unelected bureaucracy must operate with immunity from legislative or judicial review. ;^)

MALTHUS

My original post disapperared when it was submitted for review. I hope no one is annoyed if this is posted twice.

It reminds me of a political cartoon I saw back in 1980. It was a representation of Karl Marx trying to figure out how to deal with the Solidarity Labor Union movement in Poland. Remember, the Russians made a military move in Poland to put down the independent labor movement.

Marx was siting at his desk and writing: Workers of the world, Unite!

Then he scratched that out and wrote: Workers of the world, don't unite!

Not exactly happy, he wrote: Some of the workers of the world Unite!

Finally he wrote with a look of frustration: Workers of the world unite, except in Poland!

These Socialists were all about democracy in order to seize power. Now they are all about power. If you listen closely, they will tell you what they really intend.

Orzag..bankster and fascist. The ruling elite just won't get it until they are hanging from trees.

that's okay..I believe Mr Orzag..if we do things the way he suggests? Well..he'd find that he's not all that necessary to his political masters after all and would probably have the life expectancy of a gnat.
