"The XSTAT 30 is here. The military product that saved soldiers’ lives in the battlefield has been cleared for the general population by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration."
It’s a wonder product that can almost instantaneously stop bleeding from gunshot wounds. It does not heal the wound, but it plugs it temporarily to avoid significant blood loss until the wound is treated. The device looks like a syringe full of tablet-sized sponges that expand after injection to the wound. Within 20 seconds, the expanded sponge then fills the cut, preventing blood loss and giving the patient a higher chance of survival. Each sponge last for up to four hours and absorbs up to a pint of blood. . . XSTAT 30 is manufactured by RevMedX, Inc., in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Before anyone gets too excited about this product I would recommend reading Aesop's critique over at Raconteur Report;

Take a look at Celox A, and injectable form of Chitan that does the same thing, proven effect.
Looks useful but its utility may be limited. An acerbic analysis by a professional in the field may be found here:

Good...we can use that in our field kits.
Raconteur reports website has the low-down on this and it ain't all that great...
I guess I'll note the obvious caveat here. This is only a useful system if you can foresee evacuating a casualty to a medical facility where they can properly remove the little sponges. If not, you're better off with a more conventional dressing (or a tampon, on which this idea was originally based).
Still, it's a cool idea and I hope it saves a lot of good guys' lives.
You are better off NOT to get bullet holes in you start with....Cover AND Concealment are NOT overrated...

I maintain 4 QuickClot combat gauze dressings and a CAT Tourniquet in my kit. I have also heard of preppers raiding the wife's tampon stash to plug those pesky bleeding holes......gunshot wounds that is.
