Collectivist fantasy world: Smokin' it in Bakersfield. "What is the definition of a well regulated militia in today’s terms? And how can we build a gun control program around it?"

"Here's what a well-regulated militia actually looks like."
1. First of all, assault weapons will be banned except for the National Guard. People who currently own assault weapons will be required to sell them to the National Guard which will distribute them to legitimate military units where they will be used for defense of the country.
2. Anyone wishing to buy a handgun will buy it from a police department. The police department will be allowed to make a profit on the guns they sell in order to pay for the systems’ gun owners’ database. These individual police department databases will be collected into a full national gun owners’ database and maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. Following a background check, the police department will issue the applicant a gun permit.

When WILL CA. get "the big one" and fall into the Pacific? Not soon enough for me when we have schmucks like Conan the Librarian breathing air there..

With all due respect, fuck them. All men and women can be part of a well regulated militia, and I will continue to do things as I have for the last 40 years, whether the laws change or not. You have only the rights that you take and keep by force. And make NO mistake I will kill whoever is necessary to keep and defend those rights.

That's not smoke...someone is mainlining rat poison.

This spate of shit being published by the left looks a lot like old papers that have been resurrected from their college English lit classes--the mind numbing papers they wrote to impress their hippie professors.

The towering ignorance of these people would be laughable if this wasn't so serious.

Originally from the "Bakersfied" source: Comments
I can say, from the prospective of a retired Police Detective, that we, as Police Officers do not fear an armed citizenry. The armed American is both our back-up, and an insurance policy against any transgression or outrage that those (we Police Officers as well as ANY public official) in positions of public trust may seek to commit against those we are supposed to serve.

In the states of New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, the “shall NOT be infringed” quote from
the bill of rights has so recently been enforced by millions of their citizens through “nullification
by arms” when the state governments attempted to commit varying degrees of
outrage through legislation.

In short, these state governments insisted on banning “assault weapons” and creating “lists” of their
owners.

That is until the gun owners started creating “lists of government officials, to include Governors,
(and their staffs) Legislators, Police Officials, Judges, et-al. in a very public, and somewhat brutish manner.

The effect was…well…quite effective..

This was an important reminder to those who serve at the behest of the lowly-people….That the people
reserve the right to shoot them in the face. With the best, most efficient, and most reliable weaponry available. It also serves as a harbinger to those who serve in a federal capacity.

The number of gun owners in the three states mentioned above, outnumber the entire United States
Military by over 3 to 1. The very United States Military that happens to be staffed in large part, by the sons and daughters of American Gun Owners. Who woulda thought

These folks must have just returned from Colorado or Washington! They've been into the good stuff.

I lived for a while in some pretty crappy communist/socialist countries. This is pretty much the system that they use. They make it look like anyone can own a gun but no one except the rich or politically connected pass the police background check. Some "Normal" people do pass the background test only to have to pay sky high prices for the weapon and ammunition only to have it confiscated later due to "circumstances" that just popped up.

I did a little search of B.J. Mitchell of Tehachapi, retired librarian. He is also an artist, a music teacher and is active in the Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra, local performing arts and the Tehachapi Mountain Democratic Club.

So besides working to confiscate your guns, he's a busy guy. Too busy to learn about history and the Founders of the Constitution, apparently. Perhaps if he reads the comments to his op-ed piece he might wake up. But I doubt it.

How well did gun control work for the guy who was stabbed to death in D.C.? These idiots can't stop drugs or people from coming here illegally yet they think they can ban guns. Ha Ha Ha Thanks Mike for the good laugh this morning. Now I'm going to a local gun show.

Quoting from Heller:

"Constitutional rights are enshrined with the scope they were understood to have when the people adopted them, whether or not future legislatures or (yes) even future judges think that scope too broad. We would not apply an ‘interest-balancing’ approach to the prohibition of a peaceful neo-Nazi march through Skokie. See National Socialist Party of America v. Skokie, 432 U. S. 43 (1977) (per curiam). The First Amendment contains the freedom-of-speech guarantee that the people ratified, which included exceptions for obscenity, libel, and disclosure of state secrets, but not for the expression of extremely unpopular and wrong-headed views. The Second Amendment is no different. Like the First, it is the very product of an interest-balancing by the people—which JUSTICE BREYER would now conduct for them anew. And whatever else it leaves to future evaluation, it surely elevates above all other interests the right of law-abiding, responsible citizens to use arms in defense of hearth and home."

Note the sentence: "The Second Amendment is no different."

I would like to make two points here for the original author, should he ever come here to read these comments.

1. This is a Constitutional Republic. You cannot just fire up your favorite word processor and edit in or out the phrases you wish were in or out of the Constitution of The United States. There is a process for doing that. TRY USING IT! While many of us would like to engage in a real discussion of what the Right to Keep and Bear Arms means in modern America, it will not be a one way conversation and you are not going to enjoy it much.

2. Look up the words "gun control cake" in your favorite search engine and read the excellent analogy posted on his blog by "Lawdog".

Then pay close attention to what I say next.

I WANT MY GODDAMN CAKE BACK!

Heh, this in the wake of the big sad news of the beautiful woman who was killed by a LEO's weapon brandished by an illegal who just sort of 'found it'. Only ones, eh!

If any good people are not aware of this 2nd amendment explanation- it is picked apart cleanly by an English language expert:

Just another collectivist dipstick who will think he has some intellectual legitimacy because a collectivist rag printed his collectivist opinion.

For a retired librarian it is obvious the author spent absolutely no time in the history section reading about the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, nor the Federalist Papers.

But, then again, why would a collectivist ever do that?

The comments following the article provide an education in Constitutional exegesis. With such articulate intelligence on our side, I'm hopeful.

Each time some collectivist moron puts pen to paper, or foot to mouth, I grind my teeth a bit harder. But upon reflection, I think their presence is positive for "us" in that their words -- full of venom but empty of wisdom -- serve as a goad. Our feet are kept to the fire, our collective resolve strengthened. It's been a long fight and we cannot afford to be optimistic at this point. But, still, over the past couple of years I see a certain consistent message being sent to those who would destroy all personal liberty, not just the 2A. DC v. Heller and McDonald v. City of Chicago probably kicked it off. The Bundy Ranch stand-off was a warning "shot" across the tyrant's bow, one perhaps that has had a stronger effect than we know. The Colorado recall was another. The armed civil disobedience to government gun grabbers in NY, CT, CO, WA and elsewhere spread the resistance around. Gun sales continuing to rise, along with the number of CCW permits nationwide; greater numbers of state laws breaking down official barriers erected around the 2A. The new constitutional carry law in Maine, of all places, in the Stage Four liberal cancer of the northeast. Polls showing the continuing growth of pro-2A sentiment pretty much everywhere. I make no statements, come to no conclusions, about the trend or any eventual result. I'm sure others can cite examples I've missed. But it's clear that the spirit of rebellion Jefferson spoke of remains strong in our people, and that, too me, is an answered prayer and a cause for hope.

This is funny as heck! I love the leftists when they redefine things, like gender, marriage, the Constitution, even the Rights God gave us before the Founders articulated them in print. They live in an alternate universe and are hilarious! I tell you what, its going to be a hoot when reality comes to bite these clowns in their collective ass! Pun intended.

Personally,I see there is no common sense gun laws on a local ,state ,or federal level. We have 27,000 gun laws on the books nation wide. They are not enforced. Why ? It keeps the powers that be in job and career. The criminal's ,don't follow any common sense gun laws as they are criminals. Citizen control is what the common sense gun control tarts want. What they don't get is that American gun owners want no part of their vision of a collectivist America. We have chosen to stand with the Founder's. We out number them .They know it. Ridicule us. Fear us. And despise us for being what they are not. And can never be, patriotic, loving, Americans. Who will never bend to their tyrannical will. Even on pain of death or imprisonment. Register it, well that happened with a NICS check, when the weapon was bought legally. Just like you can't destroy an idea ,or movement. You can't kill personal morals, nor beliefs, and love of country. They know we have had it with them and their chicanery. And no progressive governor wants to start a war with us. It will be a fools errand , and their end. They got lists .Well so do we. Behind enemy lines. In Unconstitutional, collectivist Ct. We will not comply nor stand down. AAA/O. 11B20.

I went to the source article. Written by a retired librarian.
Two comments:
The historical reality of the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms is not that it protects the right to shoot deer. It protects the right to shoot tyrants, and it protects the right to shoot at them effectively, with the same instruments they would use upon us. And make no mistake, there was a reason why the "right to keep and bear arms" amendment is Second, only after the right to tell their Government to go to hell, the First. --Judge Andrew Napolitano

Now a new factoid on Gun Control and our murder rate:

The US is 3rd in the world when it comes to murders. But if you take out Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC, and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom. Those 4 cities also happen to have the strictest gun control laws throughout the country. And lots of "if Obama had a son" types.

They keep using the preamble to the amendment, the so-called "militia clause", in attempt to grant government power over the actual operative clause -the "body" of the 2A,, you know the part that clearly tells gov't that it may not infringe on the peoples right to keep and bear arms.

I do not think that the preamble means what they think it means.

Noted English professors agree:

1) "These folks must have just returned from Colorado or Washington! They've been into the good stuff."
I have never seen cannabis to cause this level of stupidity, and I have observed numerous examples of those who partake. This could more likely be blamed on 7 generations of inbreeding and congenital syphilis.

2) "And lots of "if Obama had a son" types."
Yup - if Obongo had a son, and if their mamas had a dick they would be their daddies.

Just for info Bakersfield is the number 8 conservative city in the US & the most conservative city in California. Can't find any info on the politics of the paper. It seems that they would not be left leaning in that community.
