The narrative shifts: "Slain Soldiers in Chattanooga Saved Lives Before Giving Their Own."

Well, well. The truth begins to emerge. Marines and sailors risked their lives for one another in Chattanooga last week, trying to distract the gunman who assaulted a naval center, helping people scale a fence for safety and returning fire at the attacker, law enforcement officials said Wednesday. Some of the five servicemen who were fatally wounded effectively sacrificed themselves during the assault on Thursday, diverting the gunman from a larger group of potential victims, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation into the killings. “This could have been a lot worse,” said the official, who did not want to be identified because he was not authorized to discuss the investigation. “It could have been a horrible, horrible massacre — so much worse.”
And this: “A service member from inside the facility observed him and opened fire on him, firing several rounds at him,” said Edward W. Reinhold, the special agent in charge of the F.B.I.’s Knoxville office. Two guns belonging to service members were recovered from the scene, he said, and “at least one of those weapons had been discharged.”
So, what can we conclude? That some of these heroes armed themselves IN DIRECT DISOBEDIENCE OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE GOVERNMENT-APPROVED DEATH ZONE AND SAVED LIVES AS A RESULT.

You know, it's bothering me that they are releasing this information. In years past that info may have gone to the family in a whisper. Now, those that are CCing may be hit by new directives from the gun grabbers. The fact that some islamic prick with a rifle got away with it, while the government nurtured his entire family, doesn't get any better knowing that someone returned fire with a pistol. Does it?

Actually, Arkindole, it does. Because I did it years ago, in the Army, along with more than a few of my fellow senior NCO's and officers. It was our response to the idiots in charge, who didn't have a clue what it is like to be the tip of the spear. I was even sent out with my platoon at one point to look for terrorists, known to be armed with full auto weapons, AND grenades, with UNLOADED RIFLES. Common sense for me and the officer I was with prevented us from exactly following orders, much to the relief of our soldiers. They both knew the mission was FUBAR, AND that their senior non-coms and officers had the sense to do something about it, regardless of the bullshit from on high. Knowing that there's still G-U-T-S, and common sense among todays GI's Marines and Navy no less, despite politically correct and neutered brass, gives me hope, and the satisfaction that they're not stupid at all. Having principles means you do things, even if it's going to cost you. That's what courage is, and you don't cop out because it's tough. Opera, non Verba. Semper Fi, and Fly, Navy, down the field.

In reply to Arkindole - It's the spirit of 2nd Amendment-compliant resistance to unconstitutional and illegitimate "law" that should be taken from the fact that at least one, maybe two, Americans returned fire. That tyrants might or will impose more unconstitutional and illegitimate "law" on the citizenry in response to the news of the "law" breakers in Chattanooga is a foregone conclusion, whether or not these facts were ever disclosed. Unconstitutional and illegitimate "law" is what tyrants produce. It's what they do. It is their Prime Directive. This news will, at best, only be an excuse to do what they would otherwise do with no excuses - tyrannize.

All valid points. Don't get me wrong because I carried in "wrong places" for many years and I hear what you both are saying. Just getting bad vibes agenda-wise. My concern is that when everyone in the media forgets about it next week it won't break clean with the friggin regulators who never sleep. There are ways they can enact new shit that will disarm the good guys that protect themselves and others now.

That's why they call it "concealed" carry. When in an office, the next-best-thing is to have a pistol in your carry bag, tucked-in but ready to be used within a step/velcro-pull.

Oh, and wearing low-profile Level IIIa body armor under a uniform (when your office can be kept a little bit cool) make a person harder to kill quickly. The combination of a pistol near a trained hand (but not visible to upset the hoplophobes) and light armor is a good thing when dealing with the public.

Rules? Are they going to do a "no-brass/no-ammo" crevice/pocket/bag check on everyone every time they move? No. It's too expensive, although the control-freaks would love that.

Is anyone else noticing that they aren't releasing who actually killed the shooter? I can't find any news article that indicates responding police forces took this guy down. So who did? If these services members managed to put enough leaky holes in the shooter before they themselves expired, why isn't that being released?

It's one thing to say they sacrificed themselves and defended their unarmed brethren. It's another to admit that they were actually SUCCESSFUL in taking him down, and I think they are trying to keep that narrative out of the conversation completely.

I trust you have all noticed that the government and the military yes me are always
'reviewing the rules and policies IN THE AFTERMATH' of these type situations. And all of those 'reviews' are done in safe surroundings where the reviewers are protected' by multiple levels of security. How good of them all to trouble themselves and take their precious time to 'review' things. What a crock of shit !!

Do something positive for a change !!!! Following is a post I made on here back a
few days ago. If I knew a way to do it, I'd send it to Donald Trump since he seems to be a man with big balls !

'Maybe it's just me, but I think a lot of the problems and controversy over who can be armed with what, and when and where, could be settled very easily and quickly if
only a couple of things were done.

1) Eliminate the 'Gun Free Zones' at The White House, Congress, and all Federal
office buildings.

2) Disarm the Secret Service and all other 'authority' type personnel at those
locations and every other where they're 'protecting' politicians, including at
their personal residences and wherever they go 'campaigning' !! (That would
save a lot of bucks)

3) Prohibit any and all 'authority' type personnel from possessing any and all
weapons that any and all members of the general public are prohibited from
possessing. Secret Service, FBI, NSC,NSA, DIA, DEA, BATFE,BLM, U.S. Marshals
and all the rest. No machine guns, grenade launchers, sawed off shotguns or
anything else the public can't have.

4) Then let the gun grabbers, politicians, and all the rest of the Feds and all
of their alphabet agencies personnel stroll through the real world like they
want average citizens to.

I'd bet $100.00 that if those things were done nationwide, it wouldn't be a week until a lot of political, Liberal, PC, 'be tolerant' attitudes would be history and a lot of things would change.
