How do you say "EBT" in Latin? However you pronounce it, the Romans were familiar with the concept.

The Roman mob could oust emperors. Over a million people lived in ancient Rome. Many of them were voting citizens who did not have a regular job. Even the most powerful emperors had to keep this vast mob of Romans happy. If the mob rioted, the emperor might be killed and replaced with somebody the citizens preferred. -- The Roman Mob
Received this trenchant comment on the the EBT debacle.
Hope everything is going well. My suspicions would be that Obama flexed his muscles over the weekend with the EBT fiasco. The message was that while the House may hold the purse strings, he holds the mob. Tell me this ain't 49 BC.

Most of us working for the government would be quite familiar with requisitions, bidding, awarding contracts, etc. It is a time consuming process with bean-counters and pencil-necked bureaucrats every step of the way. The simplest request takes months not days or hours. In less than 8 hours of the shutdown, miraculously, professionally printed 3X4 foot signs appeared all over the country in the tens of thousands saying-"this park, facility, etc. with custom logos] closed due to government shutdown."

There has not been a government shutdown in 17years. These signs were designed, specifications were determined, signs were then requisitioned, bids were posted and vetted, government contracts
were awarded. The materials were then ordered and the signs manufactured then distributed by mail or freight companies.

This shutdown was orchestrated and planned well in advance - at least 6-8 months ago. Millions of tax dollars were appropriated and spent in this process. I'm betting there is a paper trail a mile long leading directly to the White House. People do not realize just what we are dealing with.

If you want learn something interesting, look up "The Crisis of the Third Century"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crisis_of_the_Third_Century

Basically, from about 235 AD to about 270 AD there was one &^%$-up after another in the empire. An emperor (really just a military dictator) was killed by his own troops, leaving a power-vacuum for a bunch of civil wars, groups of barbarians started moving into once-Roman territory causing more wars and upheavals, and economic problems brought about the Ancient Roman equivalent of inflation were also very present during this time.

We're not quite at that point here in America yet, but who knows what the future may hold. Maybe in 2000 years our near-future will be called "The Crisis of the 21st Century".

" while the House may hold the purse strings, he holds the mob. "

Oh, he can motivate the mob, even turn them loose... but no way on earth can he actually control them.

The goal is to make us fear the mob, and to knuckle under to avoid the chaos.

I say, embrace the chaos, if we must. He's in for one heck of a surprise.

This weekend did two things. Showed in microcosim what will happen when SHTF and proves that those of us who believe in being prepared have been shown to be logical in our preparation and thinking. Understanding human nature is key. During a crisis understanding that the WORST of that human nature will come forward rather quickly. Despite what the Follywood types like to portray, when faced with hunger, thirst and lack of basic comforts that the Marxist Progressives have told this human lice they deserve and are entitled to they will go ballistic when denied that which is "their right." We will be faced with a social group that has never been held accountable for their actions. They have been told they are not to blame for years as they lapped up the largesse from Uncle Socialist. But now they we have a class that is totally unprepared and unable to take care of themselves it will be left to us to defend ourselves against the "ghetto attitude." They have been told for 60 years they are owed. And they will get what they feel is theirs anyway they can. At that time Uncle Socialist will be in hiding, not to be seen. The larger cities where most of these goverment bred and fed parasites reside will burn like Detoilet did in 1967. I hope that people are willing and prepared for what is to come and what will in the end be required of them to defend their families, their property and themselves. I am. I will. Remember Katrina when these wards of Socialism sat on their roofs waiting for the "gummitt to come gets us." Once they realize for the first time in their miserable existance they are truly on their own that is when things will get ugly beyond belief. We will see an event comparable to what happened when Rome fell and all of Europe and lands to the east were subjected to chaos and the rule of natural law came into play. Survival of the fittest and most accurate.
