Blue Helmet meddling. Government shutdown postpones UN scrutiny of "stand your ground" laws. Say WHAT?

Shutdown Delays U.N. Probe of U.S. Human Rights Record; GOP Blamed.
A United Nations’ review of the United States’ compliance with international human rights norms will not happen as scheduled because of the partial government shutdown, and the chairman of the reviewing body blames the Republican Party. The Geneva-based Human Rights Committee was due to have examined the U.S. record on Thursday and Friday, but reluctantly agreed to postpone the session at the request of the U.S. government. . .
The discussion, which is expected to include scrutiny of such controversial issues as Guantanamo Bay detentions, National Security Agency surveillance and “stand your ground” laws, has been moved to next March.

I suspect UN disapproval will make "stand your ground" laws all the more popular.

Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater said in 1971 after the People's Republic of China was admitted to the UN, "I suggested on the floor of the Senate today that we stop all funds for the United Nations. Now, what that'll do to the United Nations, I don't know. I have a hunch it would cause them to fold up, which would make me very happy at this particular point. I think if this happens, they can well move their headquarters to Peking or Moscow and get 'em out of this country."

Well Ed, it works for me. I have been a long time advocate of getting the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US. Without our dollars feeding that tryranical shithole they will drop like Dear Leaders poll numbers. With the corruption and the majority if the member nations always having a hand out to our country while thwarting our goals at the UN it is time to get out. In it's place we should start a world body that allows only democratic states. Democracies only. No more theocracies, dictatorships or Communist states allowed.
