I have long respected Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch and applaud his efforts in exposing bullshit such as this. I have to assume, perhaps incorrectly, that any soldier, sailor, airmen or Marine could see right through this amateurish propaganda, put out by DoD. That said, I never thought I'd live to see the day the government would try to turn the military against the American people. But, as we all know, under a commie regime, anything is possible. Mark Potok got one thing right: when I wear my Gadsden insignia on my clothing, it says, "Don't Tread on Me" and it backed up with the barrel of a gun. If, by some unlikely chance, I have not made the SPLC's hate list, I want on NOW!
"Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God" was a motto suggested for the Great Seal of the United States, but never used. (Thomas) Jefferson eventually appropriated it for this seal. The ultimate source of the motto is murky, but the best guess of scholars at this point is that Benjamin Franklin probably made it up.
The Founders were indeed extremists for the protection of citizens' rights, personal liberty and checks on government power. It's only been in recent years that the federal government has openly come to view positions like those of Jefferson or Franklin as outside the norm of the American experience.
