The gathering place for a merry band of Three Percenters. (As denounced by Bill Clinton on CNN!)
No doubt the gunshop owners also like the private trade ban, or at least the gunshow private trade ban (and are no doubt telling their congresscritters, giving them cover). It must irk them to go through the paperwork at gun shows while the guy at the next table does not have to. But this is short-sighted, because government does not stop at the place YOU think is a reasonable stopping point. When the backdoor registration comes from a total private trade ban, followed by the inevitable confiscation, where is that going to put the brick and mortar shops? Out of business. The only sales going on after that will be in a rip-roaring black market.
I think there is something often overlooked in this rhetoric about the "gun show loophole". You can't just set up a table and privately sell 15-20 firearms without an FFL. A couple of them and you are ok, but otherwise you are going to have ATF all over you for dealing in firearms without a license.I rarely see more than a dozen guns that people are carrying around for private sale slung over their shoulder, and they are generally not modern sporting rifles (EBRs). A pistol or two here and there and an occasional over-priced SKS. This is definitely not the massive corridor of weapon sales that they make it out to be. I can only assume the real prize is to ban all private transfers without a NICS check.DDIII
You can't just set up a table and privately sell 15-20 firearms without an FFL. Tables full of guns with "Private Collection" signs. I do this myself.I rarely see more than a dozen guns that people are carrying around for private sale slung over their shoulder, and they are generally not modern sporting rifles (EBRs). A pistol or two here and there and an occasional over-priced SKS. Again, not trying to be rude but I don't know what gun shows you attend or in what reality but, at the most recent one near here, there were literally hundreds of folks with every kind of scary black gun hung on their shoulders with dowel rod flags at the muzzle: For Sale, etc. Most of them were trying to cash in on the frenzy hoping to double or triple their money. Many of them were disappointed. But nowhere did I see BATFEces disturbing this peaceful trade in private property. Guess they figured they were outnumbered by the 8000 armed citizens in attendance. This is definitely not the massive corridor of weapon sales that they make it out to bePerhaps not "massive" but important both in numbers and as a Right to personal property and its private disposal, perhaps even more important than just the gun issue. I can only assume the real prize is to ban all private transfers without a NICS check. Now you're on to something... except that the "real prize" is the elimination of the private possession of all weapons of any kind whatsoever. Total control. Slavery, to be precise.
Check out the Mount Sterling Court Days in Mt Sterling,KY. It is the GrandDaddy of all Flea Markets well over 200 years running. On Queen Street is where most of the gun sales happen. I have seen people carrying 5 or 6 rifles/shotguns and a beltfull of holstered pistols and the price list taped to his back. When I took my CCDW class many years ago there was a retired ATF agent taking the class and he remarked that he had been sent some ATF agents from NYC to help him patrol and the NYC agents were dumbstruck at seeing so many firearms in one place. He said that they (NYC) might go for 2-3 months without ever seeing a gun (but that was a few years ago). Try a Google search for Mount Sterling Court Days and you will be amazed. Personally I prefer Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot.
Thanks for the scathing review o. Just posting observations in my "reality" of the last 10 years of guns shows around here. Haven't been to one lately since all this ban craziness cropped up.
Anonymous talking about Mt. Sterling Court Days, are you from Kentucky?I live in Crab Orchard. If you live near here contact me at 606-355-2932.
The quislings at NRA will bargain away anohter part of our rights just like they have always done.. American gun owners didnt choose the NRA to represent ALL gunowners, the Communists in our government and their media did.. the NRA is the only one they dont attack, they ignore JPFA and GOA completely.Piss on the NRA and their quisling elites.
Couple of issues from this. Unregulated sales (ie private) don't result in any 'hard' record of that sale - which we all know the feds want - they have a LOT harder time tracking who has the guns sold that way AND the state doesn't get to collect any sales tax! What we really need to bear in mind is that their true objective is to totally stop any and all private transactions, not just sales but hand me downs or trades or gifting of firearms. They want absolute and total control, who has them and where they are. They MUST have it in order to eventually confiscate all privately owned arms.
Anonymous/scathing:You're welcome. As I said, not trying to be rude or scathing, just REAL.Go REAL or Go Away.
