For decades the Government has; destroyed the econemy, brainwashed the children, killed freedom, done away with law, stolen owr property, burned churches, murdered raped, tourtured, made illegle war ,rigged elections and killed free speach. The "patriots" have done NOTHING. ZIP.NADA. not one damn thing but go blah, blah, blah like the sheep that they are. Untill we are ready to stand up and take back our lives we get the kind of nation we built. One of selfish cowards and fat ass losers. The government didn't kill this nation WE DID. We did it the moment we crawfished, burried our guns in the yard and said "not yet".We did it the day we stoped hanging scum in the public sqare. We did it the day we became to cowerdly to whip to death the scum that think the rule us. Y'all wanna be free FIGHT BACK.

That grave could be my Grandfather's, who dies 69 years ago yesterday at Betio. Glad I wasn't there to see her do that- the Tomb Guards and suspension from her job would be the least of her worries.

Sleep well and Semper Fi, Marines.

Every one that roared and gnashed their teeth about these woman at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier needs to step back and get a clue, and think about what the 1st amendment says about behavior and her "right" to say what others may find objectionable. I too am a "vet" and I find this crude to say the least but if she didn't actually yell and disturb the area, what the hell if she posted it. I have been there and observed people talking, on their cell phone and allowing their children to run amok, even posting this on facebook and I am sure they didn't get the grief. My sainted grandmother use to say, "When your porch is swept, then you can bitch about your neighbor"

I must admit that as much as the picture initially angered me when I first saw it a while back, I didn't believe that the very immature women were disrespecting the veterans interred at Arlington. I accept their apology for doing something very rude, offensive and juvenile in reaction to the instructions on the sign, not the reverence of the location. Like many airheads of today who were brought up and indoctrinated in the collectivist mold of relative morality, they didn't have the common sense to consider the law of unintended consequences.

I don't come to this personal understanding easily as I served a total of 43 months (on my 4th tour when medivaced) deep in the blackest areas of Nam with the 5th SFG. I have many brothers buried in Arlington and other cemeteries, and some still unaccounted for (though now considered legally KIA).

It's time for people to let it go and move on with the few remaining positives we have in life before the Obamanation destroys them also.

@Cederq

The First Amendment isn't freedom from criticism. She has the right to express herself and the rest of us have the right to express to her how we feel about her actions. Those of us with a Life subscription also have the right to cancel our subscription and tell her employer why. Actions have consequences.

CEDERQ and Trinity - in case you missed it, she was also flipping the bird - not at the sign but at the
Tomb. To me, saying 'fuck you!' to a dead soldier who gave his life for one's freedom, as well as to the memorial of all who died in the cause of freedom, is NOT just 'freedom of expression'. It is a claculated, intentionally procvocative gesture. So maybe some vets, like yourselves, don't mind having a couple of commie sluts say 'fuck you', but to a lot of us, it is not a minor thing.

PS - Cederq = you have seen people talking on cells and letting their kids run amok? Had I been there, there would ahve been a scene as would demand of such people, "Hey! WTF is wrong with you? Shut up or get out!" The only reason that such behavior is tolerated is because the perpetrators don't have anyone stand up to them. I would ask the question, What would Mad Dog Shriver Do? And I KNOW what he would do.

Glad to see some reasoning folks here. The sad part is the culture we live in needs such a sign, (the current government even more so -- especially if they want the deaths of soldiers they send door-to-door NOT to be celebrated - U.S. civilian doors, that is).

I look at it like this.. There is a freedom of speech but sometimes that freedom can lead you to getting your ASS KICKED... In this woman's case she is Now near universally hated plus she and the other woman who took the pic have been TERMINATED for violating Company ETHICAL BEHAVIOR STANDARDS clauses... That means no Unemployment, no Severance in this WONDERFUL ECONOMY! I REALLY HOPE she SUFFERS and LOSES everything because that is my right to Free speech....

These women are the product of the postmodern society and have been fed a steady diet of cultural meism via TV, Oprah and Letterman. The veneer separating a civil society from the jungle is terribly thin while poor behavior resulting from even worse thinking is tattering it to shreds. The only speech needing protection is the ugly, nasty and unacceptable speech but there are some places which are sacred but knowing which requires good, thoughtful judgment, a value sorely lacking in a self focused, socialist society.

SIGH (deep breath) - several divergent opinions have been presented. RE the 'apology' - IMHO a valid apology occurs when one commits an unintentional slight and is corrected regarding their misconduct. NO 'apology' for an INTENTIONAL act of misconduct is ever sufficient. You see, the difference is in INTENT. For those who say they are not bothered by this WILLFUL act of disrespect, good on ya. The rest of us will not dismiss their misconduct so lightly.

I waited to post on this because I wanted to see what would happen with the story. Word was that the woman in the photo, Leslie Stone, had a good talking-to by her dad after he found out and though the man never served in the military, he at least was part of a generation that has proper respect for those who serve their fellow citizens. Leslie apparently was NOT making 'a statement' so no 1st Amendment claims are being made here.

She apparently is in the habit of disrespecting authority in a general sense. She spoke of smoking in front of a 'no smoking' sign, which her shutterbug friend also took a picture of. So when she saw the sign that said "silence and respect", she reflexively did the opposite WITH NO THOUGHT FOR THE CONSEQUENCES OF HER ACTIONS.

When I first saw the pic, I had pretty much the same reaction as most RED-blooded American patriots. I honestly thought that the sentries at the Tomb of the Unknowns should have pulled her upright by her hair, and royally bitchslapped her to get her attention, then give her a proper drill instructor style lecture at 'full volume'.

But after learning more about the story, I must say my opinion has changed somewhat. She still deserves the scorn of the nation so that her shame will be seared into her heart for the rest of her life. The firing from her job will cauterize that shame. She will have to live with the knowledge that for some time, she will be THE MOST HATED WOMAN in the country for at least the next couple news cycles. But IF she learns from this experience, then OK.

BUT... This story is really about the failure of our society. Society has failed to teach her generation basic common sense. It has failed to teach respect for the dead and most of all, respect for our veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice to defend all that is good about our country. Society has failed to teach her generation to think before acting, and failed to teach how to exercise good judgment.

Society has succeeded in some ways, though. It has taught many (possibly most) young Americans to disrespect authority automatically. And only corrupt leaders in politics, churches, industry and education; through their misdeeds, can inculcate that sort of widespread reflexive disrespect for authority in all its forms. As such, I do not see Leslie Stone's infamous act as being the fault of her blindsided parents... THEY THOUGHT they had raised their daughter BETTER THAN THAT.

But on the bright side, this was not the cold & deliberately hateful act of a hardcore O-bot liberal piece of cr@p. This was not the calculated disrespect for the civic-minded citizens and heroes of our nation, living and dead, that we have come to expect from the socialists in our midst. And for THAT, we should give thanks.

We can give thanks for the fact that Ms. Stone is sincerely repentant for what she did, and it is my prayer that this experience will transform her. It is possible that she will devote a portion of her life to teaching civics and her story to all those younger than her who society is already failing.

Keep in mind, that those folks sleeping there gave an oath, to protect and defend "the Constitution", so that she can have the right to express herself. Trying to silence her is no different than what the left does to try to silence us when we are against them.

The best thing we can do to folks like her is to remind her that those folks sleeping there fought and died so that she can have the right to do what she did. Then ask her, does she have what it takes to protect others?

Apparently she and the guy who took the picture are now unemployed. She works for a group home for the developmentally disabled and was chaperoning them on a tour. Not behavior you want to model for those who can't reason out the whys and wherefores. I wasn't particularly outraged at the original incident, and I'm not dancing in Schadenfreud that her boss decided that he didn't want to pay a twit.
