Uh, huh. And what exactly is the statute that they violated?

Lets see, area flooded. Guys had free time. Guys had forethought and got a raft. Bought paddles too. Floating along not bothering anyone. NOT BREAKING ANY LAWS!

And those idiots did a BOOK 'EM DANNO?

Just another reason why I am glad I took off the badge a long time ago.

Must be subtext of the statute that Philly cops insist bars open carry.

Cool. Now that it's OK to arrest someone for "Lack of common sense" I'll be making a lot of citizen's arrests.

And how ironic that the officer making the arrest would make such a comment. Who has the most lack of common sense in this situation?

Many years ago after heavy rains in Hazelwood, MO, a suburb of St. Louis, a friends son and his buddy were canoeing down Lindbergh Blvd about 9PM. The local cops just honked an waved as they went by.
Maybe it's a canoe vs. raft thing? Or maybe a sense of humor vs. none?

Just two pigs out and about being pigs. Too bad the two guys taken into custody aren't suing for false arrest. But the lawyers in Philly are probably scared shitless of going up against city hall and Philly PD.

We get similar shit going on here, too. What can you say? Cops will be pigs and ain't nothing folks like us can do about it. Just hope a couple of gun owners (there ARE gun owners in Pennsylvania, aren't there?) have those two on their hundred head list.

Gee...wonder what'll happen when the mayor of THAT town decrees, 'We're confiscating all firearms...'

Wonder how many III's live in those parts....

Enigma wonders how many IIIs live in Philly.

There are certain places that you could not possibly come up with enough money to pay me to live there. Philthy, Chitcago, District of Criminals, and the swamp formerly known as Naginville fill out the top spots on that list.

Years ago, I lived on a street that would flood bad after every big rain storm because the local flood control system had some serious flaws in it. We thought it would be fun to go up and down the street in a canoe after one of these storms.

We videoed it and showed the video to neighbors (this was before Youtube, or even a fast enough internet connection to support videos). One of them requested a copy and then showed it to the county commission. Heads rolled. The drainage system got fixed.

These days, they see citizens poking fun at screwed up government as a threat instead of looking at it as an opportunity to improve.

Sad indeed.

Bad Cyborg and Doc Enigma nailed it.

Actually, being familiar with that street, I'm sure you'd make a damn sight better progress using a raft. Or hitching a ride on the back of a turtle using crutches, for that matter.

As an aside, it's interesting that the only guy I ever saw in real life wearing the Soetoro-as-Joker shirt was walking down that very street, of all places.
