And when you read the DOD paper on why we were so suprised/and/or/shocked on 9/11 and in the Insurgency in Iraq, you understand why this crap keeps happening, and why it never seems to change. First, they talk like a bunch of professors, using a lot of big words, not used in everyday talk, to say easily understood ideas. Second, they say it repeatedly. Third, when they've got you bored to death, and wondering where it's all going, they give you solutions that are unclear, and hardly dynamic. The gist of it is,"We planned according to old methods, the game has changed, we have to change with it, and use our imagination." No wonder these lunatics keep trying to weigh down infantrymen with batteries and gadgets, and super weapons and robots and who knows what else. Remember them Redcoats, trying to get back to Boston, being sniped at from behind every tree and rock, by militiamen wearing buckskin and other subdued clothing? Technologically speaking, and Intellectually, our Armed Forces have become the Redcoats. They have tons of expensive crap, great schools for soldier skills, technoligy coming out of their ears, fearsome super weapons, and everything an Army,Air Force, etc could possibly want, except one thing. A clear victory. It's like watching the grass grow. And the really funny, but stupid, thing is, I know what these idiots will do when the time comes to use their whizz-bang super duper wunderkind I-have-you-now ordinance and tech tricks. They'll do what the General Staff in WW1 and WW2 did with a lot of really good weapons, and Custer did at LBH, and Grant at Petersburg, Abrahms in Viet-Nam, and MacArthur in Korea. They'll leave them behind because they don't want their shiny new stuff all mussed up, or possibly captured, or used by the hoy-poloy troops, being they're so common and couldn't possibly know how to use them. I can remember in Viet-Nam, how we had eight starlights, but only one went out with the captain, to the field. Expensive, you know. Can't have these conscripts mucking about with expensive new equipment. So, the guys in the rear with the gear had fun with them on guard in the bunkers, but us in the bush? When Johnny comes marching to my home, he'll be tired, thirsty, hungry, and pissed off. But I won't be there.

The China article is very good. China is improving right now, and I hope the near future will bring a lot of more positive changes.

A version of the Second Amendment in the PRC Constitution would be a really nice idea. After all, China has been through a lot of shit, like Jap invasion and internal strife. When excrement hits the fan, who is going to survive? The person with the guns and survival gear?, or the person who loves gov't protection and ignorant pacifism?

Emperors, warlords, totalitarianism doesn't do people any good. Republicanism is the only proven way.

Re: Johnny comes marching.
Any, and I mean ANY excuse will be used by any despotic regime to strip away the citizens rights. Just like in the UK, a shooting crime becomes an excuse to completely disarm the public. We all know how the Patriot Act came about right? In reality, a strong, armed citizenry can do much more in stopping terrorist scumbags than any institutional effort.

I read the .pdf whilst loading my latest delivery of M75 8mm Mauser onto strippers and thence into bandoliers.

Might be a good time to rerun that article, Mike. Lotta folks buying ammo, and they need to remember that there's more to it than that case in the back of the closet.

Question for TheDweeze and Vanderboegh: Do you guys reload? I bought a full set of LEE reloading equipment for a couple of hundred dollars some years ago, all the crimps, dies and sizers available for my calibers, but when you shoot a great amount, whether range, target, or hunting, you do save a heck of a lot of money on the long run. Brass is made to last a hell of a lot more than one or two shots.

I know ammo costs and availability, especially recently is a real pain in the ass. Almost everything is sold out along my way.
