Sportsman's Guide steps in it, again.

"Sportsmens Guide Won't ship 10 Rd mags to CA claiming ATF restriction."
"The people at Sportsman's Guide are terminally stupid. Over the years they have refused to ship all sorts of things based on imaginary laws, codes or just key words. At one point they wouldn't ship a flatware set to Ventura County because the set included butter knives, which they thought were restricted. Want a buffalo hide? Nope, California has restrictions on the importation of live bison. How about a nice generator? Sorry, CARB restricts some makes/models that don't have an EO number, even thought the generator at SG was an approved model. I ran this pretty high up their corporate ladder when they wouldn't ship something that my wife wanted only to find out that they rely pretty heavily on key words in laws, codes and ordinances, and make no attempt to actually interpret the actual intent."

Speaking of Sportsman's Guide "make no attempt to actually interpret the actual intent."

Considering they have to deal with those paragons of consistency Kalifornia and the BATFE, that sounds like an eminently sensible strategy to me. Course I don't deal with Sportsman's Guide.

While I do shop a lot at The Sportsman's Guide, I simply go elsewhere if they refuse to ship an item to my location. I tried to buy some genuine NATO Jerry cans, but they are verbotten according to the environazis in Kommiecticut, so SG won't ship them. Guess what? Lexington Container Company sells them to ANYONE and ships them ANYWHERE. I now have six in my barn with my generator emergency gas in them. Ammo magazines? I buy a lot of firearms related accessories off eBay. You don't want to do business? No problem, plenty of other people do.

When a law is open to interpretation as to its intent, it is null and void due to vagueness.

We cannot be expected to adhere to a law that is not understandable. Period.

Sounds like another sports company (Dick's) just begging to go out of business.

Well, what in hell did you expect while living behind enemy lines!?

Better safe, then sorry. I would try to avoid shipping anything to Kalifonia that might be prohibited.

That's the lawyers for sure.

From another post on the thread-

"Welcome to Cal Guns
California Allows counties and cities to have additional rules and restrictions...
CA also sues a lot of people.... a lot of out of state businesses for conducting legal business....
So many vendors choose not to deal with CA, or certain cities/ counties.... and some just dont deal with gun parts, mags, etc."

Have you noticed Cabela's has no stores in California? But they do have one in Verdi, Nevada, 7 miles over the border.

I don't blame anyone in a firearms related business for not wanting to do business here. And that's just what the statists that run this place are counting on. Don't let it happen to your state.

BTW, the person suing businesses on behalf of the state of California would be Attorney General Kamala Harris. She's running for Barbara Boxer's Senate seat. She'll probably win. And she's a gun grabber supreme.

Honestly, given the state of and enforcement of California's laws can you blame Sportsmen's Guide for being cautious? Even to the point of stupidity. I can not.

for years SG wouldn't ship "daggers" to NH, no matter how many times I showed them the law repealing any restrictions on knives, swords, or other edged weapons.

besides, the original law wasn't about ownership..it was about carrying. you could own as many of whatever type you wanted. still ,they wouldn't ship.

The internet/catalog order places are scared shitless to ship to certain states. I tried to order 5.56 two weeks before the Safe Act went into effect in NY and they wouldn't ship..And personally I find SG a pain in the ass to order from because I like to use the telephone for credit card security. But once a salesperson has you on the phone they don't want to let you off; trying to sell you everything including their kitchen sink.

Hey! We have plenty of room here in Texas. So sell the house, load everything up and come on down. We have a booming economy, great real estate prices and we are the most gun friendly state in the nation.

P.S. Don't forget to bring your vote.

Hasn't SG been previously sued for shipping perfectly legal products to legally qualified buyers (after said buyers later went astray of the law?). I can't blame any retailer for being skittish, especially in a time when gun grabbers are ramping up their agenda, targeting resisters by any means available. When it comes to mags, SG's prices aren't the best anyway.

When you have the various patchwork of tyranny across the nation, you fail to realize that you really don't have any freedoms at all, but barely there privileges.

Nothing worth fighting for and CORRECTING or else posters would spend less time whining and instead actually physically FIGHT THEM to restore universal across the board Bill of Rights FREEDOM...but that, especially these days, is waaaaay too much to expect.

Whining is easier, and they just get up and walk away from their keyboards, no commitment, no personal responsibility, no risk, no sacrifice...and ultimately no FREEDOM either...
