No list would be complete without Major-General William George Keith Elphinstone.

Don't forget Braxton Bragg!

It has been suggested, tongue-in-cheek, that the U.S. Army named the home of the famous 82nd Airborne Division for the Rebel general because he did such valuable service to the Union side by routinely losing battles and retreating.

And the LEGEND IN HIS OWN MIND....

Robert McNamara.

His complete tactical incompetence and lack of a FOCUSED, will to WIN
killed thousands of Americans in a drawn out, weasel-war that could
have literally been wrapped up in few hard-charging months....instead
of years.

Most of those guys weren't truly useless. They did manage to thoroughly screw things up from time to time. There's some use to someone in that, even if only to the other side. When I think of a useless General I think of someone like Wesley Clark.

Probably didn't help Little Mac's rep as a field commander that he was arguably trying to tank the war in order to win the election of '64. He did get the Army of the Potomac trained and equipped, though.

What about Commander-In-Chief Barak Hussein Obama ?
He has done more damage to the U.S. military than the British Army, Germany, Japan, North Korea, North Vietnam, Arab terrorists and the Confederate States of America combined...

Custer would have to escape the list of totally useless for his performance during the Gettysburg campaign.

Has anyone considered that Gamelin may have been payed-off? He has all the info on the enemy and sits on his hands. Humm. I'm thinking he received a healthy portion of gold bars...And I wonder if we have something to learn from Arminius. Pretend to be statist, cry wolf, suck tyrant in, game over...

Hey, Joe Hooker redeemed himself at Chattanooga.
