Voting with your wallet continues to get more expensive -- not that it is stopping the buying binge anytime soon..

The rush to buy eee-vil black rifles has slowed (with a resultant fall-off in prices) but ammo continues to be scarfed up as fast as it is put on the shelves: "9mm Prices Climb As Scarcity Of Ammo Continues."

All of you stockpiling ammo for the government to confiscate ,or worse burring it in ammo cans for the water to destroy. PLEASE STOP. The government began tracking ammo sales in 1998, they know what you have and have you earmarked for raids. Cashing is at best based on the fanciful idea that the average "patriot" will live longer than 14 days in combat-and the fantasy that you can burry ammo and recover it in useable amounts. Both notions are pure WISH FULLFILMENT. So "gunnies" GET A GRIP. IF the Federal Government outlaws guns or ammo, It will not matter in any way how much ammo you THINK you have, OR how well you THINK you have it hid. Y'all want to "PREP" for the coming "party" go buy a GYM MEMBERSHIP, you will do your self and the patriot movement far more good than hording ammo you can,t use, and can't move when the feds come for it.

Having no time this morning to dissect your advice in detail, I will only say that apart from your statement about the importance of physical fitness, I disagree.

How to dissect and fisk such a false-hood laden statement in such a short space. I'll hit just a couple of high notes:

Your spelling, punctuation and grammar are atrocious. What? You don't have spell check? That MIGHT make your statement a bit more believable (but not by much).

The Gubbment tracking ammo sales? Possibly those done over the interweb, using a credit/debit card. But buying with cash? Spent locally? Ummm - not so much, I think.

Caching is a GOOD idea! It keeps all your supplies from being all in one place, in case you have to bug out - or, as you say, in case the Gubbment want to come grab it, it ain't there. As for the water destroying the ammo, haven't you ever heard of waterproofing?

But your last statement was spot on. A gym membership is an excellent idea, if only to keep a patriot fit enough to take down at least a few Gubbment thugs. After all, who wants to live forever?

Yeah, no shit Mike. Anonymous wants us all to just roll over and not buy anything huh. Well I wonder if he has ever considered that all that ammo that the Feds are stockpiling just might be a bonanza to we the people? Of course not, right .... I don't give a damn if "they" been tracking ammo sales or not. What about all that ammo sold to anyone with the cash at all the guns shows back in the 80's and 90's? I've seen people walking out with cases and cases 20 years ago. Hell I know a guy that bought a pallet of surplus 308 a long time ago with no paper trail. Besides the best thing that could happen to the so called "patriot" movement would be for the tyrant in chief to outlaw guns and ammo. Please please please do that!!!Shit, they don't have the foggiest notion, unless you went to the gun shop and put it all on your credit card. Who the hell would do something like that? Even if, so what?

"The government began tracking ammo sales in 1998."

1. I have no idea which "government" you're referring to, but every round of ammo I own was purchased face to face in cash. Perhaps you'd care to enlighten us on how those purchases were traced.

"burring", "burry"

2. You lose 5 points each for not being able to spell or looking up the spelling of words you're not sure of. You would have a valid point if you were to say that spelling won't have much bearing on the outcome if TSHTF, but it makes me less inclined to take your advice where the survival of my loved ones are concerned.

"when the feds come for it"

3. I have no doubt that there are those in the Federal Government who think that they have what it takes to disarm the American people by force. But cooler heads as far back as the Clinton administration studied the problem and decided that the resources did not exist to pull it off without igniting the kind of firestorm they claimed to be trying to avoid. Refer to Dutchman6's question on how many American gun owners they would be willing to kill to "stop the violence". Reminds me of the old Vietnam War era saying: "Fighting for peace is like "fornicating" for chastity." Just how many Feds do you think it would take to search for and find all the ammo stashed in the USA while simultaneously keeping us from slipping any of it into areas they think they have already cleared?

Hell, I might as well have a big garage sale and take a year off and fish. The great Federal leviathan can read minds, has unlimited manpower to cover every square foot of America. Resistance is futile and we should all shuffle off to the camps for re-education into the workers paradise!! It is no wonder that we are screwed!!

There are more people with conceal carry permits in my zip code that police officers in my state . You can go to the gym and turn your ammo in, I will work on my trigger pull.
We are a nation at war . Have you seen one Congresscritter "Town Hall" in the last two years ? We are going through the Great Crumble of society.

Typical anonymous troll. He probably knows that a trip to the gym would hurt you Mike. But it hasn;t stopped yuou from contributing.

In further analysis, this person is either blithely obtuse or too young to know how successful the Viet Cong were at caching weapons and ammo of all kinds.

The Viet Cong and the North Vietnam Army regulars served the American congress an intolerable body count. They tore our country apart from the inside out. That's how they won the 'police action'. Old men, boys, women. Fought with spears and crossbows. Punji pits and booby traps. Thousands of diminutive little people shot to pieces and blown to hell, only to have more walk out of their hooches and rice paddies to send 59,000 of America's best, and most physically fit, home in a body bag. 'Members missing.'

They taught all of America what courage and dedication can mean against physical and technical supperiority.

And I am a Viet Nam era vet. I know of what I speak. I am not disparaaging American troops. I am making a point for 'anonymous'.

Anaonymous is a defeatist. Anonymous deserves servitude.

I had a uncle who came back from the korean war quite wacky. At least we thought so and spent the next 50 years buring ammo at his small ranch. He died in 2006 and left to his son a map detailing where everything was burried. There were hundreds of sites.
My cousin bought a very high end metal detector and went searching. He thought he would dig up all the ammo, sell it and retire. It took him two solid weeks of searching and digging before he found the first one. The ammo was burried in a galvanized steel, 5 gallon milk can and was mostly good after being burried for more than 50 years. After looking for the stuff for 3 years he mostly gave up searching. He still does find some from time to time by accident. Sometimes just a few feet from where he dug before.

LOL @ Anon at the top....

What an idiot. Do the math, retard. Are there enough raid teams that when this kicks off they can confiscate all the ammo held privately in Americans' homes? Hell no. Statistically speaking, the risk is very low.

And if you store it properly and hide it appropriately, it will will be around for you to use....or the people you trust that you may tell about the cache.

Regarding the 'anonymous' post about government confiscating ammo sales...
Good luck finding all the billions of rounds now held in widely dispersed private hands.

The word is "bury", not "burry".

Question: How is the government going to track an ammo sale to you if you always pay cash and never order ammo via the internet and never pay for it with a debit or credit card?

Just bought some 9mm at the LGS for 15.99 + sales tax (~$18 total). Paid cash. Didn't have to show ID. Lost my ammo overboard on the boat ride home. :-(

Good grief. I need thousands of rounds just for my normal fiddling around at the range.

But to Anon's points... it's nonsense to think that the feds would better at disarming 80 million Americans than they were at disarming 25,000 Afghan Taliban. And it's even more ridiculous to think that demand should fall with impending scarcity. That's really nutty.

Those are some very astute observations there, scooter.

Be sure to leave a diary behind for posterity, so that future generations will have access to your wisdom. Exactly how the government can keep track of ammo bought with cash is an achievement I would certainly like to understand in depth, assuming of course you're willing to share your vast knowledge with us idiots.

I'm not sure what value fabulous abs and pecs affords one with a rifle in his face, but you keep up those reps and include the progress on that in your diary as well.

Personally, I would rather put my faith in M1 Garand than P90X Insanity if my ass is on the line.

PS - Be sure to include a paragraph or two in your diary where you marvel at your own vagina, a la Anne Frank.

While monitoring of some purchases may be possible, there is no way to accurately monitor usage - the actual firing of ammo. So, somewhere between shooting it all and shooting none of it lies the truth of how much you have on hand if purchases were accurately monitored. Cash purchases of ammo in states that do not require the recording of the identity of the purchaser would not be accurately monitored.

If anything, the current scheme in many states of requiring permits or licenses indicates who are likely to have weapons and ammo on hand. Of course, "prohibited persons" may also have weapons and ammo on hand, but they are more likely to invoke the 5th Amendment instead of the 2nd Amendment when questioned.

I just managed to buy 1,000 rounds of premium 9x19 147gr Federal HST ammo for $600. While some will be fired for practice, the rest is going to friends who have recently purchased their first handguns without realizing there was any shortage at all.

Ammo is out there, it just takes patience. On Gunbroker you can find people selling ordinary 115gr FMJ for $0.60 or more per round, and people are buying. For the same price I'd rather be patient and purchase premium ammo from a reputable company.

Just some thoughts related to your post, Mike. I hope I'm not out of line.

Ok Mike I respect you on this, so hears my logic. 5000Rds. per man for a 10 man gurrilla unit go's what? About 2000lb.+ That's far to much for even a 10 man group to move with any speed, And I have seen published claims of hoards up to ONE MILLION rounds!! So your people wind up "guarding the dump". Or taking it out and burring it in the woods. If more than one man knows where the supply dump is then five men know. If five men know then everyone, cops included, knows. The "Branch Davidians" are the best example of how that turns out. By keeping large (over 5000 round) ammo dumps you make your self target #1 for every cop, druggie , gang banger and Mafioso out there. AND "A secret known to more than one person is not secret". As to "cashing". In my 35 years as a "survivalist" and Militia Member I have seen exactly three "Ammo cashes" buried for longer than six months, recovered without sever water damage. YES every man has the right to own as many guns and as much ammo as he wants to. But isn't having a semi truck load of ammo-and no truck, forklift, or bunker, and no where to move it TO , really just free logistics for your enemy?

To the first poster...

In the world of hi-tech gadgetry, I've noticed that more and more
people who send text messages and emails have long forgotten the art
of capital letters.

For those of you who fall into this category, please take note of
the following statement:

"Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack
off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse."

Is everybody clear on that?

Are some of these turds for real? I mean don't they watch the urban camp fire? Probably PMSNBC aka North Korean TV. Rogue cop Chris Dorhner kept the entire LEO establishment of the state of Californication pissing themselves for nearly two weeks. Those guys were so nervous that they were shooting up paper delivery women. One man. Movtivated and well equiped raised holy hell for two weeks or more. And then these troll pukes tell us that 30 million so motivated and so equipped dedicated Patriots can't do a hell of a lot more. Mr Troll go back to your purple Koolaide and dream about Hoax and Chains.

dang, almost all my ammo purchases have been by credit card! funny thing is, my statements only show the store name. if all my wal-mart purchases are tallied up, i guess i'll be looking at a no-knock assembly of about 3 or 4 swat teams. i wonder what probable cause will be... too many wal-mart purchases? sigh.
