The Empire State, uh, make that the IMPERIAL State, passes a ban that effectively cuts off anyone from transporting a weapon in a vehicle legally to or from New England

Gov. Cuomo Signs Nation’s Toughest Gun Control Legislation Into Law It passed with "BIPARTISAN" support from members of the dead elephant party. Their excuse is that, "well, at least we didn't get confiscation like big, bad Andrew was threatening."
Here's the text of the whole sorry POS.
Mountain Top Patriot makes this comment on the strategic nature of this piece of tyranny:
Dear Mike,
You realize what just happened in NY?
They just shut off the northeast corridor. You can not get in or out of New England with your arms without traveling through NY state.
You see the set up here?
Tactical and strategic choke point. With rolling VIPR teams on the roads they can ambush at will whomever they wish looking for persons, arms, and materiel.
Along with it being an outright strategic act of war on our Liberty to defend from tyranny, a litany of acts of treachery, treason, and tyranny, this is in direct contravention of Article 10 of the US Constitution-Powers Prohibited States. Of course it is in direct violation of the 2nd, 4th, 9th, Amendments.
It 's begun.
Cheers,
MTP

Never consent to any search. Nothing good can result.

Ya....have any of the NY legislators addressed residents of even more northern than NY states transporting their newly designated contraband through the state?

What provisions will be made for non-slave state residents when traveling through NY?

Uh, NY law still doesn't supercede federal law, which states that if you legally possess a firearm at the point of origin in your interstate trip, and it is legal for you to possess it at your destination, then it is legal for you to transport it through any state so long as the gun is locked, unloaded, in a case separate from the ammunition for it.

This doesn't prevent NY from arresting you for possession, and forcing you to hire a lawyer to make this affirmative defense (as well as any 4th Amendment defense that you might have), but in the end it protects you. I, for one, would love to see a class-action suit by those so arrested for reimbursement of legal fees, for intentional infliction of emotional distress, lost time from work and for denial of Constitutional rights under color of authority (the last is personal - they can't hide behind their departments or prosecutor's offices).

Tee hee.

Everybody must realize that by blockading them, New York has declared war on Vermont.

The New York loonies have actually managed to SUCCEED!

Sheesh.

very good observation.. Surprised it wasn't Massachusetts-still not surprised, New Yorks Alexander Hamilton would do no less.
...So in addition to random searches for drugs or terrorism now they have this ... maybe the Kennedys can go back to bootlegging, just weapons this time ... i guess Colt in mass can make a deal with the govt

Well, the bad guys just got handed one hell of a defenseless, target rich environment. Some folks I know upstate will have a say, whether the idiot governor likes it or not.

Texan is right - FOPA is supposed to prevail, but NY often sidesteps it

Both NY State and NYC have never had a problem with ignoring the FOPA of 1986 and arresting persons with firearms that were legal elsewhere. Do you really think they are going to now?

time to set up an ammo-and-magazines store on the NY border in vermont.

1)buying the over 8-rounders from idiot fudds.

2)selling said over 8-rounders to anyone who walks through the door.

3)selling ammo, again to anyone who walks through the door.

4)buying old empty commercial ammo boxes, for the use of repackaging the ammo. "what? that? oh I've always had that. it's pre-background check ammo"

In the end, it's just you and the cop out on the lonely highway...

People need to decide what crap they will and won't put up with. Oh, and old farts don't have to put up with any of it, because what do they have to lose?
