IDF says ‘shalom’ to the M-16

Army transitioning to Israeli-made assault rifle for all units, according to report

seems weird. if you want to correct the M16 mistake, you'd adopt the M27 IAR. if you want to forego the AR pattern for a bullpup, what's wrong with the already-proven SA80? this must just come down to the price points.

The SA80 is only recently a serviceable weapon.
It is still fought with serious design flaws. Some flaws that can injure the operator.
The French FAMAS for example a much better Bullpup is to expensive and has some design flaws of its own.
The Steyr AUG the first bullpup adopted by an army has design issues that illuminate the challenges of the design.

The FN F2000, Kel-Tec RFB and IMI Tavor TAR-21 all do a better job of addressing these issues than previous designs.
