So, who's lived in San Antone?
Doing a favor. Got a physical therapist whose son is relocating from B'ham to San Antonio. We need info on best places to live in area -- safety and money obviously a consideration. Please email GeorgeMason1776@aol.com.
Hope your friend's son is fluent in Mexican Spanish - the FodGuy & I would go to San Antonio on weekend getaways when we were living in Monterrey, back in 2000-2002 the area was heavily Hispanic, with no encouragement for assimilation. Suggest he look into Pleasanton { http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleasanton,_Texas } - it isn't that far from downtown SA, and it won't be as crowded ........................
I've lived in San Antonio, but if I were to do it again I'd try to stay out of town and commute. Boerne, TX is about 30 miles to downtown but it's an easy commute and a very nice little town. If he's working on the North side, it's even closer and would be ideal. If he's working on the South Side, I'd look at China Grove, which is a working class neighborhood with lower priced houses.
I've lived in San Antonio for 12 years (escaped from Kalifornia). In order of desirability (my own observations):
North NorthWest West Anything else
Of course, everything is relative, and I don't doubt that your son will be mindful of that, and have a weapon at the ready no matter where he takes up residence. Texas is a stand-your-ground state.
Mike, I never lived there, but I did a lot of youthful frolicking there.
I am on a FB page with several people who do live in S.A., and I posted a link there to this page.
Hopefully, you'll see some chatter on it soon. I'm glad you're relatively active these days. Like many, I am concerned when you are silent more than a day.

Mike I sent you an informative e-mail from my brother in law who lived in San Antonio over 10 years on Wednesday at 9:55 PM.
Oh, welcome home man. Glad you're back on the case!
