ATF agent Jay Dobyns will be on Fox News tomorrow at 10am; Agents: "If Holder didn't know about 1000's of guns going into Mexico then he should have."

As ATF agent CovertOne comments at CleanUpATF.org:

HQ wouldn't listen when Dobyns told them that the future Gunrunner bosses were lying, cheating, deceiving and obstructing. Newell bought Gillett's lies. Carter and Hoover bought Newell's lies. Sullivan and Melson bought Carter's and Hoover's lies. DOJ bought Sullivan and Melson's lies. DOJ bought the whole package when Holder approved the legal assault on Dobyns orchestrated by Kiffner and ATF's Jack-Booted Attorneys.

Sounds just like Gunrunner before there was a Gunrunner. A bad event covered-up by perfect storm of liars, head-in-the-sand mid-levels, back-our-boys-at-all-costs senior levels and true-believer attorneys all being ordered into battle for an unrighteous cause. As was posted before, we don't work for the Department of Justice. With Holder running it we work for the Department of In-Justice.

And ATF agent Corny writes:

News from the Front and credible sources therein.

Newell is about to become a grease stain on the driveway of ATF. He is in full "spin" trying to point fingers and lay blame in a 360 degree pattern to save himself.

There are more than a handful of people who came out long before Gunrunner broke open who made it a point to advise the highest levels of ATF that he was not equiped for a SAC position. These are not the bandwagonners who all of a sudden have an opinion against him. These are people that knew long before Fast and Furious became an international incident that he simply could not manage or lead.

Real good sources confirm that Newell is going back as far as Virginia O'Brien and Lester Martz to fade accountability for the disaster of ATF's Phoenix Field Office.

How in God's name did Melson, Hoover and Chait ever announce that Newell was going to Mexico in the midst of this? That single event should draw all the question that is needed to challenge their judgment and remove them from their positions.

More from the 5th floor. Some of the die-hards have taken the side of the NRA against Holder. Hallway talk at ATF is that the NRA is right on. If Holder didn't know about 1000's of guns going into Mexico then he should have. If his aide's didn't know they should have. If Holder knew and didn't stop it he is guilty. If his aides knew and didn't advise him then he has done a terrible job of managing his staff and they are all guilty. Lose-lose on this one for Holder and he can blame ATF's braintrust for the boiling oil he is in now.

HQ is aware that the kill-shots are flooding in to the OIG and Congressional investigators. Many at 99 New York Avenue have done everything they can to cut away any loyalty they may have been giving to Melson and Hoover. This was the quote. "Melson and Hoover are wearing the scarlet letter around here. It is a "G" for Gunrunner and nobody wants anything to do with them. Some are still faking it but you can see through the false loyalty that it is laughable."

Column: Atty. Gen. Holder’s Disappointing Appearance Before the House Judiciary Committee on ATF Controversy

By Allan Lengel
ticklethewire.com

WASHINGTON — Whether you agree with Atty. General Eric Holder Jr. or not, most reasonable people find that he’s a pretty decent guy and a straight shooter.

That being said, it makes his appearance before the House Judiciary on Tuesday all the more disappointing.

I’m referring to his exchange with Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif), who started grilling Holder about the controversial and embarrassing ATF program known as Operation Fast and Furious, which encouraged gun dealers to sell to straw purchasers — all with the hopes of tracing the guns to the upper ranks of the Mexican cartels. Problem is, ATF lost track of some guns, which may have been used to kill Americans including a border patrol agent.

Issa questioned Holder and tried to figure out who in the Justice Department gave the green light for the program. Holder responded rather tentatively.

Was it deputy Attorney Gen. James Cole, Issa asked. Not likely, Holder said, because “I think” he wasn’t in the department at the time it started. Was it Lanny Breuer, chief of the Justice Department criminal division?

“I’m not sure whether Mr. Breuer authorized it,” Holder responded.

REALLY.

At this stage it’s hard to believe Holder doesn’t know — at least whether the chief of his criminal division authorized it. And perhaps it’s just as bad if he never wandered down the hall to ask.

It’s not too hard to find out.

It was not a pretty performance, not a credible one.

Holder is better than that.
