Resistance to Tyrannical State Gun Laws and The Toys for Totalitarians Campaign: The dogs that refuse to bark.

Gregory (Scotland Yard detective): "Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
Holmes: "To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time."
Gregory: "The dog did nothing in the night-time."
Holmes: "That was the curious incident."
-- "Silver Blaze", Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, 1892.
As can be seen above, 'The dog that didn't bark' is an expression from a Sherlock Holmes mystery. This by now well known observation referred to an important clue that led to identifying the criminal. The killer entered and left the estate grounds one night but without the guard dog barking an alarm at the intruder's presence as expected. From this non—event Holmes deduced that the dog must have known the perpetrator.
The odd thing about the Toys for Totalitarians campaign is the almost total absence of both press coverage and official reaction from the recipients in the four affected states and the District of Columbia. Apart from Connecticut, where there was some small coverage by the Red Queen here and here and the official response (see here and here), the silence has been bloody deafening.
Even odder is the silence from the usual suspects in the citizen disarmament lobby such as CSGV, the government-monopoly-of-force advocates, who are usually so quick to trumpet my "seditionist" and "insurrectionist" moves.
Of the media recipients, it is true, only David Gregory received his and I didn't really expect him to react. Rachel Madcow's parcel was refused and came back and Media Matters' arrived at their PO Box on 30 December and has been showing "available for pickup" since then. They really don't check their mail that often, apparently.
Yet even the so-called "gun rights" media has been ignoring the story, apart from David Codrea, Kurt Hofmann and Anthony Martin.
I wouldn't have expected the "prags" to cover it, of course. I have always made them nervous and occasionally, apoplectic. But there are others who I would have expected some coverage out of. Nada.
As far as the politicians, most of them (especially Hickenlooper) should be nervous about the local and national politics of pursuing me. Malloy's irritation evidently exceeded his national ambitions, and there is a rumor (and rumor only) that O'Malley is highly pissed at me for telling him to "kiss me arse" in Gaelic and that pursuant to his ire, a grand jury may be opened on me in Maryland next week. (Again, this is unconfirmed.)
But for the rest, the dogs simply aren't barking. Indeed, in CSGV's case they must be quite frustrated NOT being able to bark. So you have to ask yourself, why aren't they barking?
A friend of mine posited that this is because the campaign of armed civil disobedience to these latest tyrannical state laws represents something that, to use his words, "makes the gun grabbers piss their pants." He believes that they are used to the political and propaganda game and the traditional rules that govern that game. "What they can't stand . . . what they fear most . . . is that they are going to run into people who not only refuse to play the game but threaten to tip over the game board and dare them to do anything about it." Another friend commented, "They are like the Wizard of OZ and don't want anybody to pull back the curtain" to expose how ineffectual they really are when faced with the Law of Unintended Consequences that might have personal ramifications for them.
"They aren't paying attention to you publicly precisely because you scare them to death privately," said another. "They don't want anybody else to get the idea and put it (armed civil disobedience and smuggling) into practice."
So the citizen disarmament dogs aren't barking. What can be the excuse for folks who are supposed to be on our side is beyond me. It reminds me of the early days of Fast and Furious, when the same people had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the story.

When the silent dogs figure out there is no voting their way out of this hopefully it will also finally dawn on them their silence lends legitimacy to tyrants where none exists,(I just repeated myself).
Sorry, but that is complicity to tyranny by silence.

It's a plurality who are not silent who prove the illegitimacy of tyrants.

Mike, take a lesson from the famous Finnish sniper, Simo Hayha. Once he became known and famous, he became the hunted, as well as being the hunter. I think there is merit to hunting and taking my shots from my enemy's flank, inflicting casualties then disappearing like a ghost. Of course, as for the ghost part, way too late for you. God protect you during Toys for Tyrants and screw the media.

Long time reader, but this is only my second post.

Mike (I dont know what prompts me to address you by your first name- please excuse my etiquette) when confronted with the silence of those who should be "brothers in arms", just remember the big picture - the reason why we resist in the first place. In the end, this is not about firearms, politics, or even the USA per se.Its about something much deeper. The silence, and sometimes even betrayal of those who we consider to be close to us is sometimes worse than the machinations of the enemy.

Just remember and draw strength from that truth you shared some time ago, and which goes beyond the immediate task at hand and resistance to the petty tyrants of our day - We fight the long defeat. Day will come.

In gratitude - A first generation immigrant who admires your struggle

Mike,

Please put up a "How to join the Toys for Tyrants Brigade" post. A list of the mailing addresses for the designated tyrants (some shippers require a phone # for the destination) and other info. This will make it simple and easy for others to join in. If one mag rattled them, how would they react to getting 50? Or more?

Oh, and the people refusing to accept the packages - this ties up resources like you wouldn't believe. Anyone here ever work for a medium to large company? A directive to refuse a certain package would go through multiple people and probably get mangled to the point where the mag gets through and another package gets refused. It doesn't take much to jam up a bureaucracy.

And how about the resources required to open multiple investigations on non-residents? What if they can't easily identify the shipper, because (horrors!) the person used a fake name and address? "Commissioner, I want to you take some resources off of the gang squad and put them on the guy who sent a magazine to the Governor. We believe he's using the name Igor Stravinsky".

OK, I'll play 'speculate....'

As to the putative 'allies,' their silence may result from the fact that you think outside the box and they don't. And even if they admire your flea-flicker, they can't acknowledge that it pulls the chain of The Enemies--because they didn't do it.

While I don't think that The Enemies on your gift-list 'piss their pants' worrying about you, their studied silence is acknowledgement that the flea-flicker play is an irritant.

They would prefer that such irritations remain unknown, thankyouverymuch, or others may find OTHER flea-flicker plays and pull their chain even harder.

Natch, if that causes an overly harsh reaction, their real face is revealed (think Christie's bridge-ploy.)

And that wouldn't be good for re-election, would it?

from my past naval experience..

"a bitching sailor is a happy sailor. a silent sailor is plotting something"

keep your eyes open. their lack of barking has meaning...and it's probably not good.

If the objects of you attention interpret this as a publicity stunt, then they are denying you the publicity as a countermeasure.

Publish the addresses to which you sent those magazines. I am sure that others will also like to send them send them magazines - old National Geopraphics, Time, even Guns & Ammo. If enough people do it, it then becomes another form of Denial of Service when it overwhelms their normal operations.

Those that remain silent?...Well the heads of many "pro gun" groups are still actively hedging their bets that they will get a seat at the table, because they are afflicted with the normalcy bias that things will be just fine. They don't mind giving up the commoner's best means available for defense of self and country because they either don't care about those arms or believe they will get an exemption. Hell there are "pro gun" orgs trying to push, "unless a national standard is required" language, willingly giving up 10th Amendment protections, all the while claiming the language is needed and it will all get caught up in Liberal courts, and that "we" will win. Hubris! Just like those who think that a Constitutional Convention in the hands of despots will turn out well.

Armed civil disobedience and smuggling practice? Yeah that's been going on for some time now, most don't have that brass balls you do to advertise it. Just because we are told we are free, does not mean that it is so. Many, no doubt have been violating unconstitutional laws, which are null and void, for some time. "Law abiding?" Give me a freaking break. Resistance to tyranny IS obedience to God. There are THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS prepping, and just a cursory glance at bulk supply sources should give normalcy bias deniers a freaking clue.

Oh yeah, the joining of hands of both left and right pundents coining a new term, "neo-confederate" meant to imply a negative connotation, is an irony that most will not even notice because hell , it must be true, cause it was heard on the TV.

While in theory, this may sound like a good idea, remember, the Law of Unintended Consequences is blind. In reality, the enemy could turn the Toys for Tyrants into media, if not legal nightmare. All it would take, is for an anonymous(cue you know who)to send something enclosed within a mag, which by virtue of "intelligence", is "discovered" prior to an potential "terrorist act", if you understand my meaning here. I believe a "false flag" event could indeed become the "twig that broke the gun-rights camels back". I only postulate this as we all know, this is a war. And the anti-gun crew will stop at nothing. After all, one only need a cursory understanding of what the war on terror has brought to this country. So, while I may be over stating a possibility, I NEVER underestimate the agenda of the collectivists. 9/11 is living proof. All I know is one small mistake can undo a lifetime of activism. I'm sure there are tons of axioms to apply here, but I think you get my drift.

"EXTREMELY PRESCIENT OBSERVATION WATSON!"

But, when the "dogs bark not", then (no matter which yard they protect), it is clear that their yard is compromised, (no matter how well you like'em!)...What brilliant orator was it that explained the danger of the "insider spy/agent"?
